Quick Question for the people on the rock

Hey I was just curious how many applications Saba is now getting per class for its 50 or so seats, I am really curious now with California approval it has go to be getting more competitive especially with the cost still being very reasonable. I know when I went in 2000 they were getting I think about 250-300 for each semester. Thanks for any update. Scott Jones MD DC PGY-2

i'm not sure about exact numbers, but i know of several people (from canada) who applied and got rejected...not sure what their stats were, but they weren't dummies. so if i had to guess, i'd say saba is getting much more competitive as time goes on, especially in the light of cali approval. and as grads continue to get more competitive residencies (hopefully) in the future, the quality of applicants will surely go up.

We were told the first day of classes, that there were 10 applications for each seat in our class.

When I had my interview two weeks ago, I asked about housing and potential problems. They said they admitted 77 students (or so) the semester before which led to very minor housing problems.

I guess that's 22 more than they usually accept. Perhaps the seats will eventually increase. I got lucky- I got in.

Interesting info. We were told in the second semester that there were 3400 applications and about 80 of us got accepted into the first term. Our class thought the stats was a mistake, maybe it was 340 applications, which is much more reasonable. I personally will say that 1/10 is a bit on the wild side... than again, I am not sure if Gardner will let you in with the actual stats...

Yes, it is a very minor problem in term 1. Wait til you are in term 2 -- not everyone gets to stay at the Bottom because there are simply not enough housing...Most people prefer to stay at Windwards, Upper or Lower Hell's gate though if they have a car -- much nicer there...

Saba uses rain water, so it is not treated. Some people boil it but a lot of people simply buying drinking water, which amount to about $10 for a case of twelve.
