Saba Requirements ?
Hey guys,
I got accepted into Saba for May 2008 There is only one problem... my cousin is a sophmore right now in college.. And he really wants to be a doctor and since Saba only needs 90 credits & MCATS are only strongly rec. he thinks he can get in. He has a 3.5 gpa, and no mcat. By the middle of his junior year, he'll have 90 credits needed. And plans to apply (w/no mcat) & try for either may or january (he heard that is an easier time)...I need your guys help...I really don't want to discourage him or anything (we're family) but how do I say that he might not get in gently?? Or do you guys think he might have a good chance because he volunteers at a nearby hospital and has a pretty good gpa?? Please help! Thanks!.. BTW- anyone for may 08'???? =] |

Need some help here!
Hi- this is my first time with this post thing, but I have a question to ask about saba so please do bare with me. I am currently a sophmore in college right now, by half way through junior year I will have 90 credits. And all there pre-req's needed. I haven't done to well yet. If I try my best and do good on everything I can get to a maybe a 3.3 by next year. I know I won't get into US schools here, so I am thinking this..say I only have 90 credits, a 3.3 gpa, and no mcat and apply for the january, (1st option) and may (2nd option) do you guys think I have maybe a good chance comparing with others? I heard may/january is kind of easier.. I have volun. @ lot at hospitals in the ER. I have heard people saying they got in with an mcat, so can someone please help? I really want to end up practicing in California. Thanks, for your time..and sorry if this is a really long post!

I guess you should talk to admission..I personally got in without an mcat. I have friends who didn't have a degree w/ no mcat but had health care experience (like job shadowing doctors, etc.) and got in. But I think you have pretty good chance. Maybe you can try US schools?? But try, if you don't get in, get a degree and write your mcats! Hope this helps!

Hey a4576, I am going to be honest. I think in your situation you are probably going to need to take the MCATs. I say this because the Admission committee sometimes asks students with low to median GPAs to complete the MCAT. So study hard and take several practice test and you will do well on your MCAT. Hopefully with a good MCAT score you should get in.
