Hello everyone,
hate to ask an age old question about stats but...... I am about to begin my application process to caribbean med schools. I am 31, have been an RN for 1.5 years. I have a total of 125 credits but no **. My GPA is about 3.3 overall and my science GPA is about 3.5. I have not taken the Mcat, however, I have all my pre-reqs completed. I have multiple w's and about three F's on my transcripts. This is not because I was a bad student. I was a professional pilot when I started college at the age of 24, due to my ever changing schedule at my airline, I had to withdraw from school quite a few times. This was until my airline was bought out and I was furloughed. Then I decided to go to nursing school. I love the medical field and would rather get my MD to treat patients than to continue with a task oriented job like nursing. So, to make a long story short, does anyone with experience think I may be a competitive applicant at MUA, SABA or other good Caribbean schools? I know you guys aren't the adcoms but I'm just trying to get feel based on the experiences of people who have recently gone through this themselves. Any advice is greatly appreciated. ![]() |

Honestly, I don't think anyone on this forum can tell anyone if they can get in or not. That is entirely up to the admission committee (s?). Like everyone else has said, just apply!! Don't think you are competitive enough for Saba or Ross or whatever?? Borrow from your family, take out a loan etc and apply to several carrib schools. You will most prob make it to one of them!! There are so many now, just make a list of 6 or 7 that have good standards and apply to all of them... if you want it bad enough that is..

Omg!
I can not believe poeple give and take an advice on admissions criteria here. What is so hard about applying and finding out. We are all different and they look at a lot of things. So, just apply poeple, just apply. Just apply. Jusy apply. I have said it a thousand times, just apply, ok, i exagerated when i said a thousand times, but, apply and find out is only 50 american $ and if rejected that is not the end of it, there is more options, hope we all fulfill our dreams.........one way or another...good luck to all of you......and myself as well....

Attn: Recently Accepted Saba Students
Hello everyone,
I am a very confused pre-med student who is unsure of the average GPA required for SABA admission. I've heard varying things and aware that it's becoming very competitive now ... Just out of curiosity, can some of the recently accepted members (jan 07, may 07, sep 07) tell me what their GPA's and extracurricular activities were? This will help me gaze where I need to be when I apply...I currently have 3.43 with 6 yrs of nursing assistant experience, 2 yrs of acute care clinical experience as a nursing student, Must Ministries volunteer work, and resident assistant for 3 yrs and pres of nursing organization. Just wondering what else might look positive? Thanks in advance to those who respond...Happy Holidays! |
