What are my chances for admission to Saba University School

This is certainly not meant to provide the definitive answer to the question:

"Can I get in with these stats?"

I know from experience though that the question weighs heavily on some folks' minds, so I thought it might be good to place this thread at the top.

I always encourage potential applicants to give the folks at Gardner a call for the best advice about admissions, but I also encourage current students and potential students to chime in with their own stories and their own information about applying and being admitted to Saba.

    Give it a shot 8)

Best of Luck to Us All!

    Tons of volunteer work.

    Chances??
I think this would be a lock for January or May. Less certain about September, but you'll probably get it if they're not full.
    Good luck.

Ah thank you I'm getting panicky, would you happen to know when they start filling up?

There are still a few months before September, so they likely have seats remaining. One would have to call them to find out for sure. Fall tends to be popular just because it's normally when school starts again after summer. Finish your app as soon as possible, so they can decide to interview you or not. Things should be fine.

I have similar GPA but have to take MCAT.

They tell me my file is on hold until the score are released...

First of all I want to say thank you all for all of your help streamlining and enriching my research on the topic of medical schools in the Caribbean.

I received my B.S. 2011. I worked at a medical clinic throughout my undergrad and volunteered quite a bit. I also had very poor study habits. This resulted in an average of 64% (I believe that works out to about a 2.3 gpa?)
I did some traveling after graduation and realized that I had no direction in my life, so when I got home I revamped my work ethic and took the mcat, getting a 30M. I also took an additional physics course, getting an A and a glowing letter of recommendation from the professor, who is also the head of the physics department for the university.
I have countless hours of clinical experience logged over the past years from my job at a family practice clinic. I also have much volunteer experience through coaching little league baseball teams and work at a local food bank.
I am applying to SGU, Ross, Saba, Medical University of the Americas (Nevis), St. Matthews (Cayman), American University of Antigua (Antigua), and St James (Bonaire). So I pose the begging question, what do you think my chances are? Also, is there any possibility for me to do an extra year before starting my Basic sciences training, or do I have to indicate on my application that I would like to be admitted into the premed program.
Thank you in advance, and for all the advice you have already given me!

They want to assess if you have a good chance of making it through their program academically speaking, and that will come from your grades and mcat. Extracurricular activities, LORs and even clinical experience are all secondary consideration and really aren't that important. I say you're good for most of them, but a 2.3 GPA is going to be a hard sell for any of the Big 4 Caribbean schools. A 30M is respectable though, so that should at least get you looked at.

Apply (because if you don't I can guarantee you won't get in........). The GPA is terrible. But the MCAT will make them scratch their heads when they look at your application. If you get offered an interview be very prepared to answer why they should admit you when your GPA was so bad, and why you were able to achieve such a disparate score on the MCAT. Also, apply SMART. You are way more likely to gain acceptance to the January semester as opposed to May. I would argue that the September semester is likely to have the least chance of acceptance for you, so I would recommend getting an app in for January ASAP. Do apply though. I know many people with awful stats who were accepted and are currently redeeming themselves in this program.
