What are my chances for admission to Saba University School

This is certainly not meant to provide the definitive answer to the question:

"Can I get in with these stats?"

I know from experience though that the question weighs heavily on some folks' minds, so I thought it might be good to place this thread at the top.

I always encourage potential applicants to give the folks at Gardner a call for the best advice about admissions, but I also encourage current students and potential students to chime in with their own stories and their own information about applying and being admitted to Saba.

    Give it a shot 8)

Best of Luck to Us All!

If they're the same then it won't matter which one you use. No program, just do the math -it's simple averages. Determine the GPA for each credit each year and average for the total number of credits. Then average over the 4 years and do the same for the science credits. You already did this for your origional post, I was just pointing out that there may be a better scale to use but you're telling me there isn't. There is for UWO, I didn't know about Toronto but I thought that information could be useful, maybe not for you now, but possibly for someone else from UWO or another school with different OMSAS and AMCAS GPA scales.

Ya and apparently the school will calculate my grades for me based on the letter grades I recieved.

I know this is a dumb question, but what classes actually count towards science gpa?

Im gonna need to clarify this with the admissions reps tomorrow.

What would qualify as a "ref flag"?
A red flag would be like scoring C's or lower on the pre-req courses.

Your chances of receiving an interview is all but guaranteed! You shouldn't have any problems unless you have terrible scores on pre req courses or a very low verbal score on the MCAT... and even still, if you have fairly reasonable explanations for any sub-par performances (C or Lower) then your in the clear. Just don't say anything ridiculous in your interview and I'll be seeing you on the island soon. Hope this was helpful, good luck.

umm... I would say, any classes that is classified as a science by the university. Thats how I calculated mine. I think for most universities that includes Psychology, Neuroscience, Physics, Biology, Chemistry... basically anything that you can get a BSc from constitutes a science course that you should add to your sGPA calculation. Hope this helps.

it takes 2 months to study for the MCAT... you don't think it is worth it to study 2 months and get into a canadian/america medical school with your gpa? I mean once you get into a north american medical school there is a 99% chance that you will become a physician, but if you come to the caribbean, there is a 50% chance that you will become a doctor (perhaps after spending $50K you realize that you are kicked out!)...

I say if you are not willing to spend 2 months of your life to get into a north american school, and you think so immaturely that it's all about getting INTO a medical school rather than quality education/experience, then perhaps you should forget about medicine and drive a cab?

and let me tell you this, studying for the MCAT is like learning how to count numbers in elementary school... you will realize this once you are in medical school... if you are afraid of the MCAT and are not willing to study for it really please reconsider your thoughts of becoming a physician, because frankly becoming a physician requires lots and lots and tons of sacrifice and determination and hard hard hard hard work!!
