What are my chances for admission to Saba University School

This is certainly not meant to provide the definitive answer to the question:

"Can I get in with these stats?"

I know from experience though that the question weighs heavily on some folks' minds, so I thought it might be good to place this thread at the top.

I always encourage potential applicants to give the folks at Gardner a call for the best advice about admissions, but I also encourage current students and potential students to chime in with their own stories and their own information about applying and being admitted to Saba.

    Give it a shot 8)

Best of Luck to Us All!

Although Saba prefers University credits, it will also accept CC ones. Keep in mind, university credits are weighed heavier in consideration than CC ones.

As far as your grades, they're looking good. Keep them up.

    I am currently a junior.

I got a 23P on the MCAT, but I will be retaking it again next Spring.

Community College GPA - 3.93 ( 60 credits finished one year out of high school)

University of Maryland - Junior Year GPA should be around - 3.80

2 years of research, 250 hrs of volunteering at hospitals, etc.

How does SABA view community colleges? I am planning on retaking the MCAT to hopefully get a higher score? The second score will determine where I will apply, but SABA is a good backup if I don't get in US medical schools.

    Thanks,

So, it's a good idea to have a higher MCAT score to make up for the CC credits.

I am not sure how I am supposed to make up for for CC credits.

Get a 26+ in the MCAT... that will make up for your CC credits

    Thanks,
Study to get 29+ on retaking ... and apply to allopathic and osteophatic schools. Your chances are good for US med school if you score 26+ on the MCAT retake.

Thanks, I will be taking it again next year.

Hopefully, the upper science courses (biochemistry, cell bio, mam phys) will help in the PS and ** sections.

Does saba have the average stats for matriculated students on their website?

    Chem major
I have cumulative gpa of 2.55 and science gpa of 2.65
I have a interesting transcript with lots of failed and withdrawn classes that can go back almost a decade. I went on academic probation with 140 quarter hours (>2.0). I had no direction and motivation so I quit school. I worked meaningless jobs for a year and during that time I learned the importance of an education. So I came back to finish my bachelors in chemistry.

I brought up my gpa to 2.55 and it will no longer go up. I have over 200 credit hours and taking any more classes do not affect my gpa.
I took the MCAT this summer while taking classes. I had a 2 week window between school finals and the day of my MCAT test. I didn't have enough time to finish my MCAT review books. And couldn't take enough practice tests.

I scored a 29 (11PS 9VR 9BS). I rushed my test date so I could start applying to 2nd tier schools right away. I needed an okay MCAT score just to show them that i'm not a dumbbutt. At the time, I didn't care for a score of 33+ b/c I thought my gpa would still be holding me back from gaining admission to Saba.

DOES SABA have a gpa CUTOFF? If they do not have a GPA cutoff I will be retaking the test. If I retake the test, I believe I can realistically score at least in the 33-34 range. My ** score was low b/c I was guessing all my ochem questions. I didn't even touch the ochem review book. Would I be competitive with that score? I went onto their website and couldn't find any stats on matriculated students. Thanks for reading my post.

Sorry your post is too long and I went through it quickly.
My understanding is that your gpa is 2.55 and 29MCAT score. If you graduated from a university (not CC) then you'll be fine. Apply, you'll get in (due to your 29 not gpa).

I would appreciate some thoughts on my chances.

BSc - overall GPA 3.72 completed 1996 at Canadian University
    MCAT - 30M done 1995
Waitlisted for Canadian med schools........no luck
Completed 2 year diploma with honors in Medical Laboratory Technology
Worked for past 10+ years in hospital setting.
    Wrote MCAT August 2009 - 31P (VR11,PS10,BS10)

I am concerned that my letters of reference are from my areas of work, although I did clear this with the admissions office. One professor who was to write had a family emergency and is unavailable. Job shadowing a physician is not an option due to recent privacy legislation.
