Talking saba experience cont.

Hey all! Im finally back in Saba!!! I started also this month with medstudent 007. Thanks for the picts Mo, they are great! BTW if anyone does love chocolate as much as Mo, Im positive that he has enough in his dorm with him to supply all the Saba students for their entire stay on Saba. He has more than all the grocery stores on this island combined. As for my Saba experience. The first week was rough for me. ITs been a culture shock, but Im getting used to it. Saba is a gorgeous place to study medicine!! My typical day starts at 7am. I shipped a car here back in April when I first started this journey, so I drive to school since I live off campus. The drive to school is amazing! Im at school by 7:45 usually. If you want to sit in the front of the class for whatever reason you have to go much earlier than that to get a seat. We have antomy lecture from 8-10, then histo from 10:15- around noon and then you get lunch until 1:00. I think the food at school is very good and reasonably priced. At 1o you go back to class to get a lecture on what youll be doing in anatomy lab. Then around 2 you go to lab to dissect. The lab is supposed to be over at 3, but no one leaves then???????? I usually get home about 4:30 or 5 and then I work out, watch tv a bit and then study everything that we went over in class. I make sure im in bed at about 11, b/c if you dont sleep well you wont make it thru the day cuz they give you so much that you need to retain it as much as possible. However, the younger students may not agree with that. It seems that the September class is a competative class, but extremely, extremely bright!!!!! At first everyone was a little tense and standoffish, but people have turned out to be cool people as the weeks have gone on. Everyone partied together at scouts the night after the anatomy practical. Almost the entire September class was there and it was alot of fun...The classes are not that bad in my opinion. You just have to stay on top of the material and study it everyday. There is an anatomy instructor here that is amazing! We are blessed to have him. Im suprised Harvard isnt recruiting him. The other instructors are also some of the best Ive had anywhere! The first block exams went very well. I think 95% of our class aced the exams, again it is a super bright class. All of the upper classman told me that histology was very easy. Well, that is my not opinion and I think alot of people would tell you that it wasnt easy, its alot of material and i mean ALOT! Its a bit overwhelming in the beginning, but you quickly get used to it! Again, that is just my opinion, but Ive been out of school for several years and most of the Sept class seems to be right out of undergrad. Overall, we are off to a good start!!! Glad to be back on Saba, it took me 3 weeks to say that, but IM OK NOW!!
