Dear Finallydoc2b on the subject of MUA vs Saba

I spent four semesters on Saba and one semester on Nevis at MUA so I can tell you first hand the deal. Saba has a definite track record and that is the reason I wanted my degree from there. Remember that the curriculums at both Saba and MUA are identical semester to semester. Having said that I will tell you that once MUA has a track record it has a potential to even be a better school than Saba. The main reason is that Nevis is a much easier island to live on, its flat, has beaches, is bigger by far and there is just more going on. I loved living on Nevis for 4 months. The facilities at MUA as far as the library and labs are concerned are comparable to Saba but the main classroom building at Saba is pretty darn nice and to date that type of structure does not exist on Nevis. The library on Nevis is almost an exact replica of the library on Saba. Nevis on the other hand has a real type hospital (albeit a tad archeic) and also an OR (where I attended several procedures and got to assist the surgeon), where Saba is more of an outpatient clinic with no OR. So the student clinic experience is superior on Nevis. The professors at MUA at the time I was there were every bit as good as the ones on Saba mainly because it is easier to attract a potential professor to Nevis then it is to Saba. I think if you have to pick a school though go with Saba because its got a better than a 10 year track record but MUA will still be a fine second choice and you will reach your goals either way. I loved living on Nevis and would not have changed a thing. Saba was okay to live on to but living on Nevis was certainly a greater pleasure but of course with that come more distractions. If there was a way you could move the Saba campus onto the island of Nevis it would be perfect. If you dont get into Saba , MUA is a fine second choice. Good Luck in your decision.

Sincerely, Scott Jones DC MS IV

MUA vs SABA

Hi Scott. I got accepted in MUA as well as SABA and its hard for me to decide. Thanks for your coments on both schools but canu u answer my few more question?

1) I know that both school r same in terms of education but which one have better living condition?
2) Which island have more choice in terms of resturants, shopping, outdoor activities,,,,,,
3) Grade island not the school on 0-10 scale (0 being bad to 10 being beat)
4) SABA charges 6,000/sem while MUA charges 4,500/sem and for clinical SABA charges 7,000 while MUA 5,500, am I right?

I want to be a doctor and that's the reason i am going to carrib. but if i get better facilities, better living condition, more option in food, resturants then why not? Also, I am from Los Angeles Cali. and we like to complain about everything (just kidding). Please help me to decide which school to choose (SABA/MUA?)
Thanks

Just a little info update, MUA's tuition is $4,950, and I believe the clinical term is $5,950. Also, SABA is approved in NY, and MUA is not currently. And SABA is applying CA's approval now. However, I do believe that MUA will follow SABA to obtain NY & CA's approval as the school grows over time.
