ADVICE NEEDED FROM OLD HAWAIIAN

I ACCESSED THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII RECORDS SYSTEM AND FOUND MY CUM TO BE ONLY 2.49 AT THE MAIN CAMPUS.
NURSING 3.5 BUT THAT GPA IS NOT OF ANY VALUE IN MY OPINION AS THE SCIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR NURSING SCHOOL IS ANEMIC IN COMPARISON TO MED SCHOOL.

NEED ADVICE ON "HOW-TO-REVIEW" BIOCHEM, PHYSICS, MATH, AND CELL BIOLOGY (NOW CALLED MOLECULAR BIOLOGY). ATTEMPTED THE USMLE I AS I MENTIONED TO "REFRESHING GUY" AND BOMBED IN ALMOST EVERY SUBJECT EXCEPT FOR PHYSIOLOGY.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED AND ANY CRITICISM WOULD BE APPRECIATED OF THE LATE-START PERSON.

I DO HAVE KAPLANS MCAT REVIEW AND NEED MORE MATH REVIEW.
WHEN TIME PERMITS PLEASE WRITE. I ADMIRE THE DISCIPLINE YOU ALL MAINTAIN IN YOUR STUDY SCHEDULES AND YET HELPING OTHERS.

AMAZED!!

Why not just apply?

Aloha! I'm a Saba grad and current UH internal medicine resident. I view this site every now and then and couldn't help but notice your multiple posts.

I graduated from UH, but was a more traditional graduate (I think I was 23 when I started med school). I had a mediocre GPA (around 3.0 when I applied) and no MCAT and I got it. That was a few years ago though.....

If I were you, I'd just give it a try. I'd imagine that they would take into account your work experience and age, which might help. When I was there, there was some lady in her 60s. It took her about twice as long as everyone else to make it off the island, but she did it.

And you can't go wrong with Saba. What you learn is up to you. Its all a matter of how intelligent you are and how hard you work. Compared to JABSOM grads, I think I had a better basic science knowledge, but probably worse clinical presentation skills (which is important when you are a med student and intern because that's how you are graded).

Good luck.
