There is a ferry...

It's nicknamed "The Vomit Comet"

So, does that mean that I can take it? Customs problems? I have 2 suite cases, is it possible? Thanks

Ferry

The Ferry is definitely an option, but it only makes the trip four days per week, leaving SXM in the morning and returning in the afternoon. You can usually carry pretty much all the luggage you want and customs is no problem (usually no problem anywhere if you are a US or Canadian citizen).

Flights go over 3 to 4 times daily. From early in the morning to about 5:30. There are no flights after dusk because the airport on Saba has no landing lights. Excess baggage usually costs extra (about 50 cents per kilo if I recall - chechk with Winair).

Cost for ferry and flight is somewhat comparable (depending on what Winair feels like charging), but the ferry is usually just a little cheaper and they have free beer ). Only other thing I can think of is that the ferry leaves out of Pelican Marina, so you need to take a $10 cab ride over there.

Best of Luck!

the wild winds

Well, the past few days here on Saba have been rainy and windy. The ferry may be more dependable since lots of flights have been cancelled over the past couple days. When I got back to the island yesterday, we circled around the airport a couple of times just to have the bumpiest landing I've experienced here. One gust of wind actually blew us up just enough so that the we couldn't land the first time around.
