No Wolf Im not going the 28th of Feb although thats what it looked like in my post. 8) Im going with you on April 28th.
What's best a stick shift or automatic ? I would think a stick shift if the hills are that bad. Wolf if you want to buy a car, you could look at the ones in Fla and I could check it out for ya and have it shipped from here. We are entertaining that idea. Im concerned about buying one on the island and then having it break down all the time and having to shell out $ to have it fixed, cuz it sounds like the island does a # on cars. Hasselfree ships cars from Fla and its 1650.00. We were thinking about getting a cheap car and shipping it...We were thinking that may be the same $ as buying one there thats been on the island and will need work. However, still undecided.

Dream,
I think the island is about to crack down on having students ship cars in. There are too many here as it is....

Hey...Dreamdoc
I think stick shift will be a wise choice because its easy on the transmission on hilly conditions....and do find out before hand if there is a person available to fix the car on Saba....it would be expensive to get it fixed from SXM.....

Stick is the best... one of the locals shipped down a one year old Ford Expedition 2 door and his automatic tranny overeheated causing some serious melting of some plastic pieces vital for driving. Thus, I suggest stick. Also, there are a few mechanics on the island who can fix just about anything. As for parts, thats where you run into the problems. If you are looking to bring down something Japanese, German, or anything out of the ordinary for the Caribbean, be careful, because parts are hard to find, and shipping em takes 2-3 weeks from the US (Note that KIA's are okay, because for some reason they are really really popular in the islands). Those are my 2 cents

Aren't Kia's made in Japan? Anyway, I know they are inexpensive and small vehicles for the most part, so maybe that's why they are good for the islands.
