Hey
hey
I'm currently 1st semester at SABA and took 2 hyperbaric medicine classes...the classes are really interesting and in first semester, it doesn't seem too bad...but i heard as u get to hyperbaric 2 n 3...it does become more time consuming...and the work in your regular MD program is also getting quite intense...ultimately the decision if up to you..if you can handle the load, i think its great...but as for me...i don't think i'll be able to battle both degrees at the same time. Also, with helping...i'm sure a masters in this program will only pose as a benefit where ever you may decide to apply...hope this helps.. see ya in may |

Re:
Hello-
I completed the Hyperbaric Masters Program while on Saba. I can tell you that EVERY interview I went on I was asked about it. The field is very small in medicine, but large medical centers have treatment programs, and are very open to people who have knowledge in the field. Mike |

Thanks, Mike!
Were you able to author and research papers while on Saba? Did you start on the hyperbaric program from day one on the island, or did you wait until after first semester to do the masters? Does one have to start it first semester? Thanks

When I was there, you started in second semester. Not sure how it works now. You can volunteer as a tender (one who goes down in the chamber with a patient for 30min or so) during first semester and that way you get a feel for how it works.

Right now you can start the program in your first or second semester. It's recommended you start in your first semester so that you're not trying to finish up all of your paperwork and research during fourth semester, when you're trying to pass Pharm, Path and PD.
I started to take it as well when they first started the program back during my second semester. I ended up deciding not to do it, although it was very interesting. Several people are still in it though. |
