Living in Saba

Hi to all, my niece is planning to attend Saba in the fall and I am curious to know what the living conditions are like and the ease at which one can get housing, I believe she plans to travel alone so I wanted to make sure she would be alright. Also, what sort of crime if any occurs where the students live and around school. Thank you for your time.

housing

All unaccompanied first semseter students are required to live in the dorms. From what I know about the dorms, they are really close to campus, have a very very small fridge, and there was one guy who was complaining that his room flooded and was quite upset about it on the forum a couple of months back. Other than that they seem to be alright. Besides the fact that you have to share a room.

One of the best parts about saba is that there is no crime on the island. 1200 people on five square miles, with no poverty or unemployment will do that to a place. All in all saba is one of the safest places to live in the entire world. One of my friends down there does not even lock his doors. I hope this helps relieve your fears.

safe

By far, Saba is the cleanest, safest place I've ever been. Not only do I not lock my doors, I don't even take my key out of the ignition to my car.The biggest complaint about the dorms that I have heard is they can be noisy at night. It's true that they have small refrig and microwave only, and they are very close to campus.Check out the website for photo's. The new dorm doesn't look like it will be finished by May, and the existing dorm cannot accomodate all first termers so the housing staff will provide a student off campus housing selections. There will also be a representative from school waiting for your niece when she arrives to bring her to her new home or school.

I was actually asked to relay this message in an SGA meeting by one of the former Deans...

You're not really required to live in the dorms. I didn't many single students didn't. They are close to campus, true, but other than the interaction with your classmates there's not major advantage.

Personally I'm glad I didn't live in them. I did move to a different apartment after my first semester, but it's common to move.

So single students are allowed to live off campus during first semester.Did you talk to dean of admissions at Saba about it?
