I for one have not had problems with this young prof that tenten is intent on bashing. As a female in his class, I do not feel uncomfortable. As far as his teaching is concerned, he is the type of prof who goes out of his way to help in any way he can. He will come to the lab to ID structures with you at any time and he is very approchable.

Just remember that in medical school, most of the learning is self directed and depending on professors to put all this material into your brain is not realistic. So please stop bashing the profs and start doing more reading. That may be the better way to go. He is after all your professor and deserves you respect for that.

I have to agree on this one, he has a different style of teaching, but he does deliver. he also incorporates humor into his teaching which makes it worthwhile and not dry and boring

i have learnt a lot from him, and still am learning, and have no regrets of being a student in his class.

I am currently in 1st semester and I must say this professor you are referring to does not deserve this treatment. He definitely goes out of his way to help students and he definitely knows his material. I am sure the rest of the class will agree !
Cheers

Really?

This post is completely disrespectful and untrue. We should all be honored that we are in medical school and have learned as much as we have in four months.
Each professor has their own gifts and talents and while some have been teaching for 30+ years, they were once a new professor learning the ropes somewhere too.
One day we will be young doctors who make small errors in our hospitals or have to look at our old pathology notes in order to help come to a diagnosis. No one is born with innate knowledge of a subject, it is something to be mastered.
I have found all of the professors here are respectful and caring individuals who go out of their way to help students succeed and every one of them is allowed to have "off" days just like every one of us are allowed to have days where we are not on the top of our games!
This "young prof" goes out of his way to come in on his own time to help students out and is always open to answering questions and the ability to admit when you are unsure of something is much better than making up answers to please a group of ungrateful medical students.......
A little humility goes a long way and the way that you respect those in positions above you is going to carry you through your career....

PS.... after a WHOLE semester of EBM you couldnt find his credentials? Wow

I know I am not the only one who feels this way and I think we would all benefit from you retracting your post. We have had enough to deal with this semester.....

On a further note.....

As a female in the class (and with my female roommates in agreement) we have never ONCE felt uncomfortable or disrespected by this professor. He has a great personality and likes to joke around with students and frankly, that can be refreshing. It is nice to be treated as an adult and a peer. I have never been treated with anything other than care and compassion.

I am also a first semester student and this prof has been very helpful. I think this tenten person needs to grow up and stop trying to give the incoming class a negative impression of him before they even meet him. Please don't make such comments as though they represent our class' opinion. Thanks.

If you're gonna complain about professors or students, don't hide behind a name. It's weak.
As for this professor, I find he's the best kind. He cares about the class as a whole and if you want extra help he is willing to do that.
