Saba University School of Medicine propaganda, or everything is perfect

No matter what topic you read here, all they are cut by the same model, and the model is to praise all the marvelous things related to this school.

For example, today I opened the one entitled " I had to respond to the Saba California issue" in http://www.valuemd.com/viewtopic.php?t=24422

Strange, to say the least... This guy comes just to state this...

While in all the other posts, no significant complaints at all, everything is perfect!! Oh, of course some goats are ugly, and some locals are nasty, and some products are expensive, and some Winair pilots are tough, but at the end, everybody is happy.

What a perfect piece of paradise!

Hooray for Saba University School of Medicine, ***** Fredrick and especially Researching Guy (MC)! Saba and maybe the whole Caribbean would sink into the ocean, if one day SUSOM disappears!

Well, if all of the grads at Saba are like Dr. Scott Jones I'd say hurray....I met him and realize that he is going to make a great MD. Mayos-Scottsdale is a top notch residency.

Yes!! We must knee in front of him, of SUSOM, and fight and defeat all those shameless embittered individuals who, in their endless envy and jealousness, dare to say something negative about this school!

    Dear Dr. Pepper,

Haven't you heard that SABA is really a front for the CIA? What's your motive or is it the caffeine getting to your head. We, the newbies are very lucky to have Dr. Jones (a REAL MD btw) and azskeptic helping us on the forum. Mayo clinic or Johns Hopkin residency is something I can only dream of at present. Finally, as a psych nurse, may I suggest you switching your Haldol to Haldol Dec to ensure compliance.

    Have a nice day.

    Glad you asked

I think I smell a troll.....but I'll give the benefit of the doubt this once.

One of the reasons I chose Saba is because of the positive "can-do" attitude of the students and alumni I've talked to. I'm sometimes a pessimistic person, and I find such an positive environment empowering and helpful.

But you asked for negative stuff, here's an incomplete list:
    • Only two small 7-11 type grocery stores
      No beaches
      Only one gas station
      Only one road
Silly sounding name (I know, the island is stuck with "saba"....my friends mispronounce it saww-bah or say-what)
      No McDonalds
      No Wal-Mart
      Outrageous phone costs
      Guppy water from cisterns
      Cowboy showers
      No real gym
No where to really play socccer/football/baseball
No big hardware stores, electronics stores, furniture stores, etc.
Mail takes a year and a day to come and go
Professor turnover (happens at all caribbean schools, I think)
Winair (i think you mentioned that one)
Small town type atmosphere - everyone knows your business and vice-versa
No high speed/wireless internet except in library (except for very expensive DSL which just came on line)
If you are not nice to the phone company guy, you might never get a phone line switched on

I'm sure if I thought harder I could add a lot more, I'm sure others could probably do better.
Maybe Saba does gloss over some of it's problems, in fact I'm sure they do. But I'd choose the positive, helpful atmosphere of Saba over the cut-throat and negative atmosphere of some other places any day of the week.

hmmm....ok, let's get through the bitterness and go on. You haven't had a lot of posts yet so sometimes it helps to get it out in the beginning and then settle down to a productive role as one of the forum members....PM me if you want to get nasty...on the forum just be pleasant or post some specific concerns and see how the group helps you.

    Nobody told me...

    Wolf
    Cowboy showers

Okay, I wasn't informed about that
I'm just leery of that sorty thing-- who wants a cowboy in their shower?? So are you gonna bring me one to put in my shower if I PM you about it Wolf? (I mean, you are in TX and it wouldn't be too much of a burden to bring one with you in May for me. I'd even buck up for the shipping )

    Saba

Don't forget about not being able to flush things down the toilet (with certain exceptions of course ). Ah well, i'll live. And the reason everything is so positive here is because...well, you just gotta visit this place. Ppl are extremely polite here. Your arm kind of gets tired from all the waving though.

You seem to have a little bit of unresolved anger. Why so bitter?
