    Driving

Should we get a driver's license on the rock? Are there paths we can walk to school on (since we can't walk on the "Road") ?

    Hey Classic

Are ya done with that neuronal protein yet? You've been spinning for a while now...

You can walk on the road - I do it all the time for exercise. Granted you may be increasing your risk for an early debilitating accident, but many have done it, many still do it, and many will do it in the future.

Only get a DL if you think you'll drive. I didn't think I would drive, but I do now. There's also the possibility that someone could end up driving a bus, in which case the school picks up the tab for the license. This is a VERY GOOD THING, since a license, with all of the steps you have to go through and the final fee, costs somewhere in the area of $150.

I'd say wait until near the end of first semester, decide if you'll need a car (by about 1/2 way through that semester you should already know where you'll be living for 2nd semester) and THEN get a DL and buy a car off of a fifth semester who is leaving (mine will be on the market in a few months )

This is just my opinion on the matter but I wouldn't buy a car. If you live in the Bottom it's an easy walk and with the bus I just don't think it's worth the expense. If you think gas is expensive in the states the cost of gas on Saba will blow your mind! Again JMO.

    Ohhhohhhh

Thanks guys and gals- I guess I'll wait and do an assesstmnet of my needs during first semester.
Bye-the-bye, I'm not done with the nueral protein yet- It's so heavy I have to keep centrifuging the pellet and dilluting it to resuspend. I sure hope there's something left up there when I get on the island (med school and a head full of goop-de-goop... can't be a good thing)!
    Alas, off to class.

    Driving to Saba

Is anyone else driving to Saba. I'm driving down from Canada. How long do you think it will take me? I'm looking forward to seeing you all there in Sept.!!! (I actually haven't been accepted yet but am driving down in anticipation of being accepted--I'm just finishing up at Montreal Vo-Tech with a major in Industrial Arts. Is it a hindrance to be missing some fingers? Just curious.

Hey Sagar, Neil and Maneesh...you guys show'em how it's supposed to be done at Saba!!

    Wow

Hey man, do you have one of those Duck vehicle thingies from the Army or something? Or is it a hover craft? Whatever it is I want one, because despite gas prices I'm sure driving to Saba is cheaper (and much longer) than flying. (Or not...)

Good luck on that acceptance thing. I'd hate to see you spend two weeks driving only to not get in. While you're at it, bring some goodies with ya!

As Rob (Dr. LOVE) said, gas on Saba is a major ouchie. If you live in the bottom, no use for a car. Personally I lived in The Bottom first semester and it just about drove me nuts - I had to move to Windward and I have no regrets. (There's a BREEZE!!! I now have a VIEW!!!!) :P

PS - Classic, share the wealth - I need some more neuronal protein.... starting the Three P's after all in just a week (ACK!!! HELP ME HELP ME!!!)

    Hearing panic

Dear ~S 8) , although I hear the panic threatened tone in your email voice, your avitar just keeps smiling at me. You're so very smart; you'll be fine. (Remember, you thrive in stressful situations, that's when you're at your best )

    Bike!

    Petenwe,

I hope by bike you meant motorcycle which is still dangerous - I only saw two on the island. In terms of a "pedal" bike, the hills will prove to be very difficult (as that is all there is) on top of the traffic!

    Amen!

I think anyone having a pedal bike on that island needs his/her noggin checked.

Have said that, there's an upcoming 3rd semester student I saw pedalling up the hill from The Bottom - I saw him at nearly the top. Pulled up, rolled my window down, and yelled, "YOU'RE CRAZY!!"

    He just laughed...

    Oh well.
