So what about laptops? Should we ship them down with our last batch of stuff we ship to the school before arriving?

Personally, I would carry it with me.
Electronic Equipment Permitted During Flight
Personal Digital Assistants, Electronic Books and Laptop computers may be used during flight. These items must not be used during take-offs and landings.Nothing is said whether or not the laptop counts as your carryon, but from experience, most airlines make exceptions to laptops. They count as a personal item, thus are allowed including a small carryon. Contact winair for confirmation.Carry-On Baggage/Articles

Ferra, you're are so about this Winair stuff. That is such a good thing! Thank you so much for the info- you're such a good resource!![]()

DEFINITELY carry your laptop with you!! Winair really isn't that strict about the carry-ons - I carry on my backpack and my monstrous laptop case - it's cramped in my seat, but as long as I'm willing to suffer it, they're willing to let me. If there's room they'll sometimes take larger carry ons and put them in the luggage hold (which is friggin tiny - of course the whole plane is tiny, you have to bend over to get to your seats - you'll see what I mean...)
I also learned that if you're flying US Airways (which has an affiliation with Winair) you can check you luggage all the way through to Saba, AND you can check 70lbs. That's what I'm doing this time (since I always go US Air anyway), allowing me to carry about 30 lbs more luggage than I realized I could before. WOOOO HOOO! :P
Also be aware that when there are a bunch of students coming back all at once (like there will be for those of us getting there on the weekend) they luggage doesn't always come that day because there is so much. Plan to have a few necessities in your carry on. Also bring a snack bar or two with you just in case...

swinginislanddoc,
so r u saying it doesn't matter how much we carry in our carry on? Can u have ur backpack plus a carry one to go under the seat? I know I am trying all the sneaky ways to get my stuff across.
thanx again

It does matter - but let me just say that "that's the way I do it!"
Now, if you're arriving with a million other people all at one time (exaggeration, of course - a million people wouldn't fit on Saba...) then they might take some issues with you having a bunch of stuff. But if you have a laptop case and a backpack they usually don't say a word (ladies, you can also lug a purse with you if you so desire - just keep up with all of your bags).
