The only book I have purchased brand new for my courses on Saba so far have been the photographic anatomy atlas by Rohen. It was a nice book to have in the dorm when I didn't feel like going into the lab, but it's not something to use as a primary anatomy atlas because the bodies look a mess in the lab.
Everything else, if you want it, you can usually find second hand from students with no problem. (This is for 1st semester) For 1st semester, the ONLY book I absolutely needed: Netters Atlas The word docs you are given are all you need for the lecture aspect of Anatomy. Some people use the Embryo books - they are great for a reference. I never used them. That being said - maybe I would have gotten more Embryo questions had I read the books :P Who knows! I never cracked a Histo book all semester. It's a matter of preference for 1st semester - some people like reference books.
