I don't think any are required, though if you run a search on the topic you will see that every student has a preference for one of the BRS topics or another. I wish I had saved the link to the threads I found as I was curious to know the same. However there were so many differences in opinion, I though I could buy them all or just wait until I got there and go to the bookstore to see which ones I liked the best. I think that is what I will end up doing since BRS opinions seemed to vary so much from student to student.

Anatomy BRS is great to have. The Histo BRS is okay for practicing questions, but I am not sure that it will help you with exams. Embryo BRS is probably a waste of time. You will get great resources through Kaplan when studying for the USMLE, so I wouldn't worry too much about finding information to help study for the boards. I would just go with the Anatomy. There are also great online resources for Histo. They should give you the website the first day of class.

do not buy anything lab related for anatomy other than gloves. Everything is provided, they have lots of blades too.

What about white coats? Do you need them for lab? One part of the literature says we don't need them until 5th semester but I thought I read that they are now required for anatomy lab in addition to scrubs.

White coats

You only need your scrubs for anatomy - and those which you are willing to burn at the end of the 1st semester!

We only needed our white coats during 5th semester.
