Salutations "Chicago13":

BRS stands for "Board Review Series". It's a series of books that is geared towards reviewing for the USMLE Step 1. There are questions at the end of each chapter as well.

There is a different BRS book for each subject, such as Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, etc.

Let me see, which ones should you get. That depends on your preference. I have used BRS anatomy, physiology (this book I found to be very good), and behavioral sciences. I bought all the BRS books before I went down to Saba but ended up only using those 3. I didn't particularly like the other books. For pathology, I used Goljan Rapid Review (this book is good) and for Biochemistry I went with Lippincott. Sorry if I confused you with all these books but if you have any other questions feel free to PM me. Ciao.

No problem mate. That's what this forum is intended for. Anyways, to answer your question, no, you do not need BRS for every single class on Saba. You can if you want to. I would suggest you start out with BRS for the first 2 classes first and see if you like it (Anatomy and Histology). If it works for you then you can go ahead and get them for the next courses as well. No need to do what I did and get all of them since I ended up not even using most of them.

Out of all the BRS series, I would highly recommend BRS physiology the most since I found that one to be the most useful. I did use anatomy and histology but didn't think they were as good as the physiology one. The anatomy one is okay but for anatomy make sure you get Netters Atlas and read the professor's lecture notes. I don't know if Dr. R will still be teaching anatomy in January so I don't know if the new professors will give you word documents to read. If not, then BRS anatomy may come in handy. Ciao.

books

Instead of carrying all those books with you, you can order them right here on the island at ICS. They have most if not all 1st semester books in stock and also carry books for the upper semesters. Island Communication Services - Saba - Home
