Core Rotations in Canada

Our members don't see this ad.
It was my understanding that some students from SABA had done their core rotations at hospitals in Canada. Does anyone know of this, and if this is the case, or does SABA only set up 4th year electives in Canada for students interested?

It's next to impossible to set up cores in Canada, but there are some students who have done it in the past by pulling some strings. Electives are not set up by the school, but those are usually doable if you make some phone calls / emails.

Thats funny because I was told during my interview that SABA has core rotations in Nova Scotia. I dont know how true this information is but they said they do not advertise them because they dont want other carribean schools to follow. Could somebody pls confirm or refute this statemen?

Unless you are guaranteed a Canadian residency position you may not want to consider this. I am not 100% sure but I read somewhere you MUST do cores in USA, electives can be done in Canada, if you do Residency in USA. Leave all options open.

hmm you can do cores in canada in some universities.... and since all rotations in canada are university affiliated... US residency definitely likes that. Its even better than the rotations in the community hospital of US.

Thanks for the info from all who responded, and ttwl, does the school get those core rotations in Canada for the students, or do the students have to get those themselves?
