UK Clinical Sites

Our members don't see this ad.
Im a Uk national and I am interested in doing my clinical rotations in the UK. Could any current student or anyone else who knows, what SABA's UK clinical site is?

Any help would be great?

Wouldn't you be better served going to one of the programs in europe. i.e. Semmelweisen in Hungary. I don't know if there are issues about the "english program" there, but at least you would be in Europe. Following article about the NIH (which controls training positions as I understand it) and foreign docs

NHS closes its doors to foreign doctors - Times Online

one interesting quote from this article:

"...Its preferred option is to tell NHS trusts that international medical graduates should be eligible for posts only if there are no suitable applicants from Britain or the EU. That would exclude almost all of them. An earlier attempt to implement such guidance was challenged in the courts by the British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO), which won a Court of Appeal ruling that it was unlawful. The department appealed to the House of Lords, which is expected to reach a decision in May.
If the Government wins, it could exclude all graduates from medical schools outside the EU from training posts with immediate effect. If it loses, it will have to find a way of implementing such guidance within the law"

Article states decision is coming in May.

I'm very interested in going to europe to practice after school (i am EU citizen). I posted some question about rotations/license in the uk earlier but got no info. Will probably call the school about it.

Million Dolla Question where?

First of all thanx axiomofchoice.

I emailed SABA they said I got to apply and spend $75 before I can get the UK clinical list. (Its already starting buying your MD lol)

The main thing that appealed to em was doing clinicals in your local trust. Learning their way and developing good relations before applying for F1,F2 can only help.

I came across the same piece as you, regarding excluding Medics from outside the EU, but I contacted the MMC and they clearly stated that does NOT apply to UK Citizen qualified outside the EU.

If you find anything, please do not hesitate to share...!!!

Oh yh I had 2 interviews and basically I making babiesed them up. Actually to be fair I got alittle done over by one of my interviews but the other one...OMDZ I should of had that lol.

But it might work out a blessing this way. Im really bad at going lectures, so somewhere where they force me Im hoping will make me a better Doctor and theres more chance to get into my local trust this way...coz all the places I applied to where nowhere near my desired working area. Only thing is, gona cost me an arm and leg.

AUC is really expensive but have about 8 clinical sites they put it on their website

What about the GSP at St. Georges. I believe you spend a whole bunch of time in the UK. (I don't know any of the details something with Northumbria University) Someone else could tell you more about that.

Of course where AUC costs arm + leg, SGU costs Arm + 2 legs.

Without getting us federal loans, this would be tough.

I too was stiffed by UK schools.

did you take the UKCAT, BMAT, or GMSAT? I did UKCAT, that is one silly test...

Will the carib schools accept any of those or will you have to take the mcat?
