actually, the cheapest way would be to swim. Just tow some gatorade with you!

Winair and the Ferry are the ONLY two ways to get to the island (unless you swim). You'll just have to call them both and compare pricing. Winair will get your there faster, and without getting you seasick.

You can also hire a local SXM fisherman to bring you. (Just ask the 30 or so people who had to do that in September, when the Dawn II was tango uniform in SXM...)

I chose to spend another night in SXM with my son...

All of that having been said, I would choose Winair! It's worth the few dollars extra.

Well, actually I've heard you can hire a helicopter as well, but the price is $180 a head.

I realize that it probably varies person to person, but if you take a ferry and you worry about motion sickness, I can vouch for the effectiveness of Meclizine. I buy it under the name of Bonine.

I am *very* susceptible to motion sickness if I haven't been on a boat for a while, and this stuff works 100% for me every time if I take it about an hour ahead of time.

In my other life I drive dive boats and I was taking this stuff every day until I acclimated to being on the water again. I never had a problem with seasickness unless I forgot to take it. (We're talking 5 days a week, 6 hours a day on a boat.) If it works as well for you as it does for me, you'll be fine.

Anyone have advice for those traveling in August? It is in the middle of hurricane season. Ferry could be an alternative if flights are canceled. Any experiences/advice?

Hi all. I have a question for any current Saba students who travel to/from Toronto (or future Saba students who have planned things out already). I'm thinking about flying down to SXM through Buffalo, since the cost is so much less (usually around half the price). But there doesn't seem to be a good coach bus option for getting to the Buffalo airport from Toronto... at least not for early morning flights. Anyone figured out how to pull this off? Or come up with another viable option?

My father travels a lot and always leaves from Buffalo or Detroit when flying in the USA. I am fortunate that he will drive me there and pick me up in December. He also wants to come with me the 1st time to see the facilities, etc and be a luggage mule for me so that I can have about 3 1/2 suitcases.
