On both boats (Dawn 2 & Edge), they transport a lot of the passenger's luggage so I don't think that you'll have too much of a problem. If you want to be 100% certain, you can contact either ferry (Saba).

In addition to passengers, the Dawn 2 transports a lot of cargo so they can definitely help you out.

HI, I talked to a travel agent today to book my flight for the Sept. semester! She couldn't get me a direct flight to sABA throu US airways, so she offered me this package:
Toronto-->CLT-->St. Maartens for a total of $520 (one-way)
IS this a gud package or shud I try other airlines?
Thanks for the help!

I checked on American Airlines for you and I found a 1 way ticket from Toronto to SXM for $387 US. With taxes and fees it comes out to $441 US. I am not sure if your price was in US or CAN. The flight I looked up left Toronto at 9:35 a.m. and arrived in SXM at 2:15 p.m. connecting through Miami. Hope this helps. You can find that ticket at http://www.aa.com

I dont know if you have posted the correct timing for the above flight.
The Toronto Miami St Marten flight leaves T dot at 6:30 AM, stops at Miami at 9:30 am, leaves Miami at 11:30 am, and reaches SXM at 2:55 PM
I booked a roundtrip ticket, from SXM, TOR, SXM for 694 Cdn, using aa.com..
just search by 'fare'...

Another question: the cost for the round-trip of Sept.-Dec. and Dec.-Jan is almost the same, with $5 more for the later! (Toronto-Saba). So I was wondering if there is any other advantage for booking the round-trip for the break instead of the semester?
I read earlier that we should book a round-trip for the break, that's y asking. Also how early should we arrive for the orientation on Sept. 3rd.
Thank you once again

I book roundtrip because it normally is cheaper for me. It is also more convenient for me to go ahead and book roundtrip. As far as how early to arrive. I think most students arrive around 2 or 3 days before class starts. I would say that would give you plenty or time to get things in order here on the island before class starts. Some come 1 week before or more though.

i came 8 days before my classes started, and i wanted to shoot myself because i did everything i needed to do in 3 hours (phone, bank, groceries, etc).
coming 3/4 days before orientation seems like a good idea.
Check for a Toronto flight on Thursday, August 30th, landing SXM at 2:55 PM, and then you can take the DAWN 2 to SABA leaving 5 pm, and reach SABA by 7 ish.
You can do all your necessary chores; phone, internet, grocery, unpacking on friday, enjoy your last real weekend with your quadmates and then start orientation on monday.
Orientation is not that serious, just be presentable - no need for formailities, and if you can, please save some pizza for us upper sems. lol
The big advantage for booking a roundtrip FROM SXM is the cost of ticket. I dont know why, but I found TOR-SXM-TOR flights much more expensive than SXM-TOR-SXM.
Just make sure to look around yourself, and see whats best for you. To me, SXM-TOR-SXM flight is best because it arrives at SXM at 2:55 pm, so you dont have to stay at a hotel, and you can take the dawn 2 to saba at 5 pm from SXM.

Thank u so much for the input guys and the valuable advices! I really appreciate it.
Ok so I think I am going to book a round trip from here, just a little confusion abt winair: it seems that their luggage limit is so less compared to US airways, I wonder if I'd be charged extra, do u know anyone whos' been charged extra?
