Departure: EWR 08:05
Stopover: SJU
Arrival: SXM 13:45

I'll be flying with the wife and kid on April 25. We will be staying the night at St. Maarten and leave for Saba the following morning on The Edge (boat).

Total price of air fare amounts to $795.30 ($265.10 each) w/ one stopover. Total price of boat ride amounts to $100 ($35 x2 adults; $30 x1 child).

Hope this helps at all.
don't forgot cost of staying on SXM for a night.

to the guy above - it's not like US schools, you can't just skip summers; if you do, you'll be pretty behind.

Got a ticket for $400 with minimal layover times (maybe 3 hours total) - flying out of NY.

SXM to SABA Charter

Just putting some feelers out-

I'm starting in May 07 and my wife and I are flying into SXM around the 25th of April. We are bringing our 2 LARGE dogs with us and it looks like the easiest way is going to be a Charter through either a Private or WinAir depending on who doesn't mind flyin our 'kids'.

I'm not 100% sure if this will pan out at the moment but I hope to have things figured out relatively soon. Depending on the size of the plane and space available- anyone planning to be heading to Saba around that time and might be interested in joining the Charter with us? Might be advantagous as you could bring over a cargo load all at once.

If anyone has any info on Chartering flights, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could pass along the info. I believe someone might have chartered a flight to bring their dogs over in the last year or so, but I'm not sure.
Cheers

there is also a boat that leaves sxm for saba every day...it maybe easier to take the dogs on the boat rather than the really small plane. boat takes 20-30 minutes if i recall....give the dogs a little dramamine for sea sickenss and they'l probably sleep through it...

I'm not sure the boat thing will work- If I remember correctly, it's a vertical climb up a ladder from the boat to the pier or is that just for the Dive boats? Lifting our 'boys' up will not be an easy task.

I took the Edge II to visit Saba this past January.... there's no ladder climb, just a good strong leap from the dock to the boat should do it!

Thanks HighFat,
Let's see if I can get a solid answer- Can someone give me a definate answer as to how high a step / climb or whatever it is from the boat to the dock at Ft. Bay?

One of our dogs is 135lbs and the other is 100lbs- Not an easy task picking them up from stable ground to begin with, throw in a rocking boat and excessive height to lift them up to- I smell a recipie for a back injury and 2 irritated / irrtated and swimming dogs.

Thanks

My flight has a stopover at San Juan, Puerto Rico. Then I have 55 minutes until my connecting flight to St. Maarten leaves. Does this give me enough time to claim my baggages and catch my next flight?

Should be plenty! On the way back to US though, it is not enough because you have to go through the immigration and customs.

It isn't steep at all. Defiantely don't charter a plane. Just take the boat. It's like getting off any normal boat. They will help you with the dogs.
