Calling back to the US?

Hi,

I was wondering what most people use to call back home to the states? Do most people use Skype, PC Connect, or just phone cards? What is the best way to call back home?

Also I wanted to know what phone cards people most often use? I am coming from California and I wanted to buy a phone card here, and so I didnt know which one I should buy so it works there as well? Also whats the best phone card to buy? Thanks!

I've been using Skype for a few years now, and have used it to call back to the States from the Bahamas, Brazil, and now Saba. It's cheap and the quality is quite good.

That's not to discount other options, but it's the one I've been using for a while. They also have some new 'unlimited' calling plans, though I haven't looked at the details yet.

Skype

Skype is what MOST students use. I honestly dont even know if/how phone cards would work here. Either way Skype is cheaper especially if you are from the states. You can get a local number from your home city and then people can call you from back home for free..... You can also send text messages or chat with Skype using webcams or just using it as a messaging service. It works really well to stay in contact with the states!

Skype: around 2 cents per minute to call U.S. Considering you have to put $10 minimum when you purchase credit...that should last a while.

From what I've heard, Vonage works great too.
For roughly $20/month, you have access to entire N.A

Skype is good if you're the only one using the connection.
The speed is very slow if there are multiple users.

Vonage seems to work pretty well. My friends used it and never really had problems - even with multiple people using the same connection. Not sure what makes the difference there between Skype and Vonage.

I wish I had gone with Vonage.

I used Vonage also and had no problems. Cost was $25 a month plus internet connection for unlimited calls to North America. I also had a local number from home so it was a local call for my family in the US.
