Thread: decisions decisions!

hey, just got accepted to saba for jan 2008...i need help...i also got into auc for 2008...why should i go here? please help me bc i have only 5 more days to let them know if i will attend or not...thanks!!!

Saba is smaller and cheaper with a good reputation.

However, it sounds like some people need larger towns and more action to keep from going crazy.

Have you visited the islands?

hey guys this might be a stupid qn, but I m confused. is SABA on the island of saba or on the island of St.Martin?

Saba is named after the island it is on.

go to Saba. it's pretty cool when someone asks you, "Where do you go to school", you say "Saba" and when they ask you where is that and you can say "Saba"

I had the same dilemma. I picked Saba in the end because of simple economics plus I think I'll be less distracted on Saba than on St. Maarten. On the other hand, no beaches... but that's not why you're going to med school after all. Good luck!

Its actually pronounced " SHA-BA" by the locals. You can either shout it or make a gunshot motion with your hand in the air if you really want authenticity.

There are no beaches on saba or st.marteen? I thought saba had beaches...

Saba has one small black sand beach that comes and goes depending on the season. I think mostly it's there in the spring/summer, and gone in the winter months.
Anyway, the beach is maybe 100 yards long by 20 yards wide when it is there. That may be too generous. You get the idea though. One palm tree over by the road that leads down to the beach, not much shade. No hot French models with boyfriends named Bruno like at Orient beach on St. Martin. Just pasty, sun-deprived med students and a couple of local kids.
