    Question Hmm Biology II?

I've got an conditonal acceptance to Saba based upon if I get a B or higher in Organic Chemistry. I know I would do everything in my power to meet that goal. By that date I should have every course requirement completed, except Biology II.

Now, I have been told by many Biology II involves taxology and learning about plants and structures. I can not begin to tell you how much i dislike learning about plants and find it useless knowledge. My question is, should I add that to my course load? Is biology II absolutely necessary for med school? I've taken Anatomy and Physiology courses last year. Would I be at a disadvantage if I opted not to take Biology II?

    Thank you.

If you don't need it (for the acceptance) then don't take it.

I'm pretty sure Bio I and II, Gen Chem I and II, Organic I and II, and Physics I and II are your basic requirements for ANY medical school

Yes, but I was curious if I ever would have those moments in medschool where I would say to myself "Gee golly, if only I had taken Biology II this would be much easier to understand"

I've taken anatomy and physiology in and past. I view Bio II as a course about taxology, plants and animals (not much on humans). If there is more to the course that directly relates to Medschool, then please let me know.

    Thank you.

Bio I and Bio II vary slightly in their curricula depending on the school at which they are taught. My bio II course had a lot of plant stuff, some ecology, some taxonomy but there was also some human anatomy. There was a brief overview of the different organ. systems Of course, this was probably covered in more detail in your anatomy class. In the lab, there was some dissection. We dissected fetal pigs but also looked at various pre-dissected species as well.
I don't think it's absolutely necessary and it probably wouldn't help very much with med school since it is a very brief overview. Mostly, in college, the general biology course is not very detailed. It just lays a foundation to be built upon in subsequent bio courses e.g. genetics, ecology, cell bio, anatomy, plant bio etc.

I'm in Bio II right now as a post-bac. The director of our program thinks bio II is a waste of time, but insists we take it just to meet the med-school requirements. He wishes we could take physio instead but that's not the way US medical schools work.

If Saba doesn't require it and you are already in with the bio you have then why waist your time with it? If I didn't have to take it I wouldn't.
