regarding MCAT scores.

hey, iam going to be applying to saba for either sept 2007 or jan 2008. I have a few questions:

I have a GPA of 3.5 but my MCAT score is only 19Q. Reason its low is that I took MCAT way prematurely with only biology taken beforehand.

My question is would it be a hindrance to my application to include the MCAT score since its not required. Or should I include it and explain the low score and hope they let it slide.

Saba is the only school im interested in and I would hate to be rejected cuz i included my MCAT...

I have a lot of vol experience...still need to get my LOR's

Any suggestions?

Dont tell them about the 19. Do you meet the requirements to apply? Usually the 90 credits that are required to apply help with the MCAT. Good luck

I have to say though that stats are getting more competitive. They may require the MCAT soon so I would get on it.

I must agree with boulderunner regarding disclosure; however, why not retake the MCAT and apply to US schools?

ok i emailed admissions about this and dr. B told me that you should include it and give reasons why its low. He said if my gpa was good, it shouldn't hurt me.

I wanna believe him, but my future might be riding on this decision whether to disclose MCAT or not.

I agree with cat. dont limit yourself to the carib. You worked hard and got the high gpa, now all you need is to boost your mcat.

Do as she said. If you can maintain that GPA and retake the MCAT, you have a good shot at U.S. schools.

My take onthe original question is to not include your MCAT score. But now that you've called them (and there's a chance they know who you are), you may need to include them now and explain yourself.

see thats the thing, I don't mind explaining myself BUT i don't want them to get overly aggressive on this topic. My reasoning is kinda stupid but true. I took MCAT as a "practice" without any prereqs except biology. I assumed I could rely on my high school knowledge for the other courses and wing the organic part. Boy was I wrong!
I've learned from this tho, to never go take an exam without actually 100% preparing for it AND having all prereqs!

Im kind of sour on taking MCAT again though, I just don't think its a good exam to test if you can be a good doctor or not. the only course that has any medical merit is Biology and a little bit of orgo. Physics and chemistry are useless. And verbal, lol, that has nothing to do with anything.

If they request that I do it again, then I will.

As for US schools, im canadian, wouldn't it be harder for me to get in US school even if I retake MCAT? Are there any Canadian friendly US schools?
