Boulderunner,
I haven't heard of or read the book but I googled the title and the author, a professor at Texas Tech SOM, has a website where he apparently gives much of the info in his book away for free: http://www.ttuhsc.edu/SOM/Success/default.htm You can fill out an online Learning Style Type Indicator (based on the Myers-Briggs for those of us who have taken psych courses), find out which learning style "type" fits you best and then he gives information for developing a study approach that best fits your own "type". I haven't gone through it yet but it sounds pretty cool. For those who want only some quick and dirty study strategy hints, he has a page called "Success Types Survival Strategy" with some basic study tips. You may have found a goldmine of study information. E. Last edited by Experienced; 09-18-2006 at 05:47 PM. Reason: to correct misspelled url |

masquerade
.... and then there are those people who try to advertize books on valuemd only oops someone told everybody there was a link with the same information, so it mysteriously and quickly disappeared. There a lot like the people who post messages about Bush and anything else they don't like about the world .... please take your issues and your ads elsewhere.

Hmm...
The above is not considered an advertisement; neither is it a trivial issue.
Students who focus on medical education and how to improve it today, only become better professors and physicians tomorrow.

Experienced,
I was referring to Boulderunner not Wolf. As for ducman's comment. Hmm... The above is not considered an advertisement; neither is it a trivial issue. Students who focus on medical education and how to improve it today, only become better professors and physicians tomorrow. __________________ Ducman Yes, everyone wants students to improve etc... etc... , and if he had asked which books was best or referred to more than one book, and the link had not disappeared so rapidly, I might have seen it that way. However, he did not and the link did RAPIDLY disappear. I'm guessing it was an ad. Reviewing his previous posts, especially with regards to political messages, only lent fuel to my suspicions. I'm all for improving study techniques and if someone wants to start a forum about that great. I'm also for making sure people are aware that they should consider the motives for EVERYTHING that is posted. People do use the media to get others to think and buy like them (or who they are masquerading as).

So I think Im just going to buy this book. Its a drop in the bucket compared to all my other expenses, and could prove valuable. Maybe Ill bump this thread after im done, and let everyone know if its worth it.
Thyme, I get a sense that you dislike me, simply because of my responses to other threads in the relaxing lounge. In this field there is no room for animosity towards those who dont view the world the way you do.The world is an enormous place with a wide spectrum of ideologies, many of which we dont agree with, BUT It is crass and pharisaic to make vast generalisations about people we dont agree with. Hey, Im a good guy!. You know what your problem is Thyme....Youve been smoking the wrong herb. And again Im no salesman, just a guy who wants to be succesfull in medical school, and the people on this forum have helped me everystep of the way. Well...Almost everybody
