    Interview Format

    Hi Guys,

I am interested in any feedback you are able to provide regarding the interview format including types of questions, number of people involved...etc.

Are they accommodating to telephone interviews?

    Thanks

Since this is the official thread, I'll post my two cents once more-

You'll have a telephone interview (unless you are in or close to Massachusetts, in which case it'll be in person).

The phone interview is very 'accomodating.' It's not meant to be a stress interview. They (2 to 3 faculty/administrators) will be on speaker phone with you. Sometimes, it is difficult to hear so make sure you go to a very quiet place.

Questions typically include the generic questions.
    - Why medicine?
    - Why Saba?
    - Tell me everything you know about saba, the island and the school.
    - And particular expierences you had...they do read your personal statement.

And they'll ask you if you applied to other schools, including caribbean schools.

Hope that helps. Relax. Speak slowly and articulately. And be enthusiastic...you should be anyway!

My interview was really laid back. I had two individuals on the line with me, and they asked questions one at a time. I actually had a terrible MCAT score, and a not so hot GPA, and they didn't even ask me about it. They seemed more interested in what I had done since graduation, like going back to school and working at the Mayo Clinic. They seemed really interested in those two subjects. They also asked a lot of questions on why I wanted to attend Saba, so be prepared to answer that thoroughly. My interview only lasted about 15 minutes, and I got to do it in my pajamas!! Good luck to everyone.

For me I had a couple of not so hot grades in calculus, and calc. based physics. They wanted to know what happened in those classes.

If you have "issues" on your transcripts be prepared to explain why you have them, and any extrenuating circumstances that lead to those "issues". Also because one of the administrators had gotten her doctorate at the school of medicine in colorado, and thats where I work, she asked me lots of detail on which lab i worked in, the focus of my projects, and how my work here would translate to med school.
Last bit; expect the standard why med school, why saba, type questions. I actually wrote down some answers to those questions, anticipating that I would be asked them, and it helped. Research the island as much as possible, and the school, and what you are in for for the next five years. I got a sense that they really wanted to know that I knew what I was getting into. Good luck, and....take a Alprazolam(just kidding)

I had my interview today over the phone and it actually took an hour and 15 minutes. I was fried by the end of the call. They really drilled me with questions. I was interviewed with SGU and Ross and they were really easy in comparison to Saba. They asked me about my two Cs, my Personal Statemet(YAH< THIS TOOK THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME--->They read ur PS. and we talked about other cool stuff like my hobbies and interests...)PM if u got questions.

In my case the questions were focused on my Job during college and my lab work . My GPA was fine but my MCAT was terrible. I had two interviewers, they were more interested in my job because I worked with Autistic children. They also wanted to know why I wanted to go to Saba so be prepared with a good answer.
