I'm from Saskatoon, applied at the U of S college of medicine, got an interview, and waiting to hear back from them. And you know what, even if you don't get a residency directly in Canada, you will be able to move back, if not in two years, then three or four. In the end, does it matter as long as you are practicing medicine?

Gary,
thanks for the message.... apparently, I cannot PM you becoz I dont have more than 5 posts....but anyway, I had a 3.2 science & overall GPA... had a 19 in DAT's, a ton of extra curricular activities and about 50 hrs of shadowing..... my rec letters were solid (according to Dr. bernstein).... dont worry man, your GPA is way better than mine.....
I was a chem major with a lotta of upper level bio classes..... just dont worry about it too much...they are trying to fill in the May session and judging by the applicant pool (such as yourself), it looks a pretty strong one as well.... so good luck and let me know if you need anything else....

I had my interview last week. He was very friendly and we talked for over an hour. It was actually like talking to a friend about medical school, therefore, not stressful at all! We basically just chatted about med student life, the school, the island, etc. They really just want to know if you know what you're getting yourself into. He asked me what I knew about the island, school, and USMLE. I gave a one sentence answer for each of them and that lead into other stuff. I definitely over-prepared! I could have went on much longer about those questions but he didn't seem overly interested in the answers, just that I have looked into this stuff.
Oh yeah, he also spent at least 15 min telling me why it would be better to start in May (I applied for Sept.), and that I should seriously consider changing my mind about when to start.
I have been accepted to AUC and St. Matthew's, and I am just waiting to hear the verdict from Saba.

This whole business of them ushering people into May08 simply 'cause they don't have enough students is really bothering me.
