Thread: Stafford Loans

I was wondering do Saba students qualify for US Federal Stafford loans?

No we do not.

I'm wondering if anyone knows why we don't?

Saba does not have Stafford loans. The rules for the Stafford were changed back in the mid 90's and proprietary offshore medical schools were pretty much expressly excluded. SGU, AUC and Ross had to appeal and were "grandfathered". Spartan had Staffords as well but lost them. I have heard they have been re-approved but I don't know for sure.

Dr. ********* spoke to our class last month and said that Saba has applied for Staffords as of the first of the year (or thereabouts). I don't know when (or if) the school will be approved for Staffords. Unless something has changed recently with the Stafford program, I don't think any more schools will be approved. Of course, I could be wrong.
