Cost of Living? Apartments? etc

Hey,
I was wondering if someone could post up there cost of living. I've been looking through some threads, but they were a couple of years old.

Are there apartments for rent and how far are they from the campus? (I know for AUC there are apartments literally right next door to the school, which is very convenient).

How would a one or two bedroom apartment be? Are there some apartments that are better than others or is everything pretty standard?

Is there a cell phone service on the island?

Seems like most people say total cost for the 4 years is between 120k-150k. Is this accurate?

Thanks

It depends on where you live. If you live in the bottom you can expect anywhere from $450 to maybe $600 a month for a 1 bedroom, in Windwardside or upper/lower Hells Gate maybe up to $1000 a month for a 1 bedroom.

Apartments vary in quality, and added costs - electricity, cable, gas, etc.

There are two cellphone companies on the island.

So far I'm holding to $15K a semester. Prices are going up here, like everywhere else.

dear lord

Man, that's a bit steep for Lower Hells Gate. I think that the apartments in Hells Gate are a little cheaper than the ones in the bottom because they are so far from the school. And they tend to be newer places as well. We pay $1,000 a month for a 2 bedroom with a huge kitchen with huge american sized appliances, we even had stolen satelite TV for a while until they got on to my landlord, who is extremely nice in spite of stealing TV. We also have arguably the best view on the island, and a yard. A YARD people! We have grass to mow! Not many others can say that. Oh yea, and the carnival parade isn't going around our house for hours. Nice and quiet. Plus come on, you know you want to tell your friends back home that you live in Hells Gate, that was a huge factor in me deciding where to move. Viva LHG!

Salutations "medschool22":

I currently live in Windwardside and am paying $700 for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. I also have a yard (which by the way needs mowing so if Nate if you feel up to it you're welcome to mow my yard anytime). I spend about $50 for electricity (that's running the AC constantly) and about $100 for internet.

As for food, I guess that depends on how much you eat and where you eat.

There are cell phone services on the island so don't worry about that.

Ciao.

Hey hey,

The wife and I live in Lower Hells Gate, in an apt which includes 2 full bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a living room, and a kitchen. All expenses paid exept for electricity. We don't have a yard, but we have a nice view. We have a post cards view of the airport, the runway, and it's surroundings. No NOISE whatsoever. Fully furnished including kitchen appliances (micro, fridge, toaster, coffee pot, plates, cups, flatware, etc.). We pay $900/month.
