New ATM machine & Money conversion

I guess it will be good to know that The Bottom has a new bank and a new bank machine which is open 24hr, 7 days a week. Its very handy to have an ATM machine at the Bottom so students who live at the bottom with no transportation can do their withdrawl five minutes away from Saba University School of Medicine. Just to let you know some interesting banking tips: I am a Canadian, and when ever i convert Canadian Cash into US in Canada i usually get: for 1 canadan doller i get about .82-.83 US. But the bank here give approximately from .89 to .9 US, so my advise: its better to just withdraw money from here then to get it converted by Canadian banks.

Hope this helps,

Siddman

Well, I was gonna post a picture with my massive amount of bills spread to celebrate.
But the wind has been taken out of my sails.

Still, having such a terribly convenient source of cash makes me want to go big pimpin'. Yes, I WILL take fries with that.

Hi,
I am a canadian as well and I was wondering if you guys recommend opening a US chequeing account with RBC because I am getting my loan from them or do you recommend just having drafts made from the canadian money and sent each semester?? Or to have an account on Saba??

There is no point in having an accont with Saba bank or opening US account, i have an account with RBC and all i do is send them a draft eveytime i visit in semester breaks. Plus you can use the ATM here to withdraw money from your RBC account, just bring your interact card with you.

Hope this helps,

fees?

I've been searching around and have not read anything about it.

what currency/ies does the ATM machine at SABA dispense?

Is there a major difference in services fees between:

1) withdrawing US/Guilders funds from SABA acct (at an ATM)
2) withdrawing from US acct at SABA (bank or ATM)
3) withdrawing from Canadian account (i know that banks here take commission on exchange rates, but are there any other service fees?
4) withdrawing from a major credit card (visa, m/c)

thanks!

1) I don't get charged a service fee for the ATM in the bottom. Doesn't matter if I take out dollars or guilders. Only time I need guilders is for the gas station which rips you off if you use dollars.
2) I never got a Saba bank account and I'm glad I didn't. The banks have poor hours on the island and the customer service isnt the best (sorry to say).
3) The conversion rate has stayed the same but always using the current global rate.
4) I havent pulled money from a credit card but it is possible. My credit card charges loan shark type fees for a cash advance so I won't ever do it.

If you don't mind me asking, is it a Canadian bank account or an American bank account that you are withdrawing the money from?

Are you saying that certain ATMs charge service fees, while others do not?

Thanks in advance...
