Currently rotating in Infectious Disease here now. Good rotation, good teaching on rounds, no formal lectures. We do lots of renal and heart transplant consults to help stratify risk for the procedure in addition to the regular patients. Basically get to function as an intern, lots of autonomy. Call only two days for the whole month. Typically arrive 6am, leave by 6pm on average. 30 patients at any one time. 4 to 8 consults per day, split between me and one intern. Some months they have 2 fellows, a resident, and an intern, and two students, some months (like this month) we have just one intern and one student. It's busier in the winter (duh). It's greenbook by specialty.

Any info regard IM at VA in KC will be awesome. I'll be starting there in Nov. and don't know what to expect. Is it better or worse off than St. Lukes. I hope I get enough exposure there. How far are the 2 hospitals from eachother? I hope I don't only see PT over 60. Please help relieve some axiety.

Does anyone know if St. Luke's has a surgery core available? If so, does anyone have any feedback about the hours, teaching, call schedule etc.
Thanx G
