Exclamation need info!

hey to ya'll! i was looking for some answers to a couple of questions i have. i am in my 5th semester, preparing to take step 1. i am interested in transferring to saba after i take step 1 so that i can do clinicals at chabert hospital in houma, la. so my questions are
1. is this a good move? does anyone have any downsides to transferring?
2. does anyone have any info on that site? from what i heard, you can do all the cores there. is that true/false?
3. is there any way to rest assured that i get to do clinicals there? what are the start dates? is that site green booked?
4. who can i talk to in the clinical program (director) who will actually talk back to me? i've tried getting in touch with a couple of people to no avail.

any and all advice is welcomed. also, if there is anything "unseen" that i don't know about, please inform me also!

thanks!

you need minimium of 200 for step I score to transfer, the last I knew.

you can do all cores in Houma the last i knew.

no guarantees on when you would start or if u could go there. but would be most likely that u could. it is green book.

the clinical director is going to saba soon for grad and is very busy, but she has two assistants who may be able to help you.

Thumbs up Impressed with Houma

I just got back from a few days of taping interviews with students, preceptors and administration in Houma. I was impressed!

Thumbs up C'mon Duc

C'mon Duc,

Toss in your two cents on Chabert!

It's a good spot. A strong commitment to teaching by Dr. F and a large portion of the attending staff.

A good cross section of patients with a remarkable variety of pathology (let's try TB and Cholera).

Probably one of the most helpful and pleasant clinical coordinators in the Saba system as well.

Only about 45 minutes from NO!

Best of Luck!

It is the BEST

PM me for individual questions.

I really liked Houma. Learn a lot. Great city. Wonderful people. Would do it all over again. Great teaching hospital.

MUA and Saba have exclusive contract there.

Great place to be learn. Everyone is very helpful and highly motivating. They love to teach down here and you get a great amount of autonomy in certain rotations, especially electives. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Can answer specific questions if you PM me. All the best luck.

I check the ACGME website and the only rotations that are greenbook are
Cores - IM, OBGYN and Surgery
Elective - Sub I, Neurology, GI, ER, PM&R and Infectious Diseases

Hopes that helps.
