Did all two years in Houma

The closest airport is New Orleans. You will need a car when you get there. I lived in Houma Highlands a great place to rent and very safe. A lot of the residents live there too.

Internal med is wonderful in Houma. Dr. Ferg### is the best and his wife is a big help too. The dress code is scrubs or nice pants and shirt. Nobody will run you off if you elect to wear a tie.

You are about an hour from New Orleans and in the heart of bayou country. Watch "Skelatin Key" movie. It will take as much effort to learn how to pronounce the names of your patients as it will be to learn medicine. Get to know your Boudreaux and Tibodeaux jokes too. Forgive me... to tired to look up the exact spelling.....

Welcome to Terrebone Parish. It is fun and a good place to be during clinicals. Frontpage | HoumaToday.com | The Courier | Houma, LA check out the newspaper.

Dr. F loves Harrisons Internal Med. Book.

Take care.

Could anyone give me an advice on how to get from New Orleans to Houma (bus, rent a car, etc..)? I'm flying to New Orleans and I do not know the area. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no BUS/Shuttle service between New Orleans and Houma. Best advice would be to contact a fellow medical student in Houma for a ride.
