Elective Rotations ???
I have read on another thread :
http://www.valuemd.com/saba-universi...rotations+saba that Saba only sets up core clinical rotations for you and you have to set up your own elective rotations. Is that true..any body currently in clinicals have any comment on the matter??? And do people have to wait to get greenbook rotations and if so how long??? |

most 4th yr med students whether foreign or US set up their own electives. they are often easier to get than cores. your best bet is to go through a family practice residency or some other residency program that you have rapport with and find docs or programs you want to do electives at.
for example, I am trying to find good electives in my home state in psych and primary care. so i find the docs and then try to set it up through one of the family practice residency programs that i have already rotated through. one of the psych rotations is at a hospital with a psych residency so that makes it even easier. my only other advice is start contacting programs early, so you can get housing if you need it. sometimes they will help you out--always ask! ie, in my state they want to encourage us to stay in state for residency and practice, so they are motivated to help us with housing and otherwise accomodate us. most prorgrams and docs are happy to have students and help them. |
