510 points Hi there!
Can you suggest a former USSR medical college where I can do 1 year internship? Pls include the fees and/or contact details, etc if you know.
I have got my MD already.
I am looking for a cheap place plus good quality of training.
Thanks in advance.
510 points Hello! i am from India and want to do my MD in Russia. so can u plz post your views/opinions about Stavropol State Medical university. It would be very helpful if you can help me in this regard. Also suggest the name of other good university if any.
510 points Hello
I am thinking of studying to st petersburg. Which medical school would you suggest (full english medium)?
Which one is more strict and more difficult?
511 points Lomonosov Moscow State University, faculty of medicine for sure.
510 points i've plan to study at St Pertersburg named after Mechikov II. Is it okay there??
512 points Yes TimeAsOrigin.Mechnikov is quite a good one.in Russia, the medical universities are ranked in cities. For instance,in St.Petersburg,Mechnikov is also called L2-means the 2nd medical uni in Leningrad(former name of the city).and L1 is St.Petersburg Medical University named after I.P.Pavlov.so probably Pavlov is one step ahead.and L3 is St.P. State Pediatric Medical Academy.
Personally,i recommend Pavlov, then Mechnikov.both have 6 yrs English degrees.and the education is not bad..Pavlov is located in a better part of the city also,if u care about it.
Good luck.
510 points Mostly USMLE scores depend on the student not on the school.
512 points sure it does depend on the student, but some universities in ukraina,russia,bulgaria,romania...etc are totally hit by bribery.for instance,i had an exchange year in Bulgaria, all the educational system was running thru bribing the lecturers.there were students who were taking money from the students, and giving part of it to lecturers, only if they have the money, they were letting you pass the exams,or getting the credits.
even if u study,as long as u dont make your payment, there was no chance for you to pass.and of course after some time,u stop studying also, coz u dont feel like it when u know that u gonna pay heaps of money to clear that subject.and the lectures were quite weak also.after leaving bulgaria,i repeated that year, coz i knew nothing at the end, bulgaria cost me lots of money, and more importantly;a lost year..
so thats why, apart from being a good student, its important to be in a good uni also, especially in eastern russia, you can experience bribery issues also, but in good quality institutes in st.petersburg,moscow,novgorod,rostov..etc.i didnt see or hear the same experiences.
Axle, now I really begin to wonder something: Devildoc had his 4 years in Bulgaria/Sofia med school and he didnt give even a cent of money and he could get the education without messing up with such stuff. You say something totally else. I trust both of you. So there comes out another question: May it be because of different treatments to different student populations, kind of de facto an unwritten but known-by-all double-standard? Devildoc is an American and we know that all of those schools love to get US/Canadian students. So may it be because he didnt face the dark side of the moon and you did?
I am afraid there is a sick state of mind therethey cant get out of their constant hatred and make us pay for their sickness. As I see the hate in Bulgarians and the French, I learn more about them actually.. and I dont respect what I see:

512 points yeh, sure its possible bidiboom.but it cud be about the uni also.because i actually had my exchange year in Plovdiv, and as u mentioned, devildoc is studying in Sofia.Plovdiv was sunk in that problem, also had friends from Stara Zagora and Burgas who were complaining about it.in Varna, still there was a bribing issue, but the uni had been putting it in an official way, such as sitting fee for exams,or asking money for additional paid courses before the exams which are compulsory.
also have a close friend studying medicine in Lviv,Ukraine who is also not happy, due this issue.
never heard of it from friends who were studying in Sofia or Pleven.so maybe they are better, and cant blame them with the information i have.i was mentioning about the universities in Russia, some unis in russia had the same problem, and some not.generally,it was an answer to the previous msg.so its not %100 about the student when he/she is sitting for USMLE.school also matters.
