does the 6yr M.D. program includes internship also or do we have to do internship from somewhere else
510 points does the 6yr M.D. program includes internship also or do we have to do internship from somewhere else
510 points MBBS is 5 years , no internship (should be 2 years like F1 F2
MD doesn't include internship , at least for applying to russian residency (ordinatura). You have to take 1 year internship before , possible to do it in russia (also alled internship)
Like in Germany, Russian MD education [we do not have MBBS programs and MD program’ graduates get qualification “(Medical) Doctor”] is designed for 6 years and unlikely to US and UK does not require preliminary BSci degree.
MD program implies some practical skills in medicine and the students may get even more during their out-class activities. However, graduates do not get any deeper specialization. Officially they may work after the university but it mainly concern rural hospitals. Almost clinics require employees to have postgraduate specialization (residency).
Further specialization is offered during postgraduate education. In Russia, we are having 3 forms of it: 1-2 years in duration (“internatura”), 2-3 years in duration (“ordinatura”), 3-4 years in duration (“aspirantura” or PhD study). The real duration mainly depends on the specialization. Aspirantura is to be finished with PhD project presentation. Therefore, medical schools prefer accept own graduates for the study.
All the national medical schools are the state institutions, so, they have a standard program in use. Transfers from school to school are possible (there is a limitation not to offer a transfer before last year of study). The same concerns graduates: after your MD study in one of Russian medical school you may enter another one for your postgraduate program.
As to holders of MBBS degrees of foreign medical school with 5 year curriculum (India, Pakistan, China, …): admission for a postgraduate study in a Russian medical schools is complicated. The official law is they have to get their foreign degree approved in Russia for postgraduate study. The system works on the personal documents consideration and often foreign medical programs of 5 years duration are considered as incomplete if compared with Russian MD study. Therefore, MBBS holders sometimes are requested for 1 year of MD study in Russia to be eligible for postgraduate study.
We hope a lot that the system will be changed soon due to local new law and bilateral agreement on degrees verification. Any how, be careful when considering such the options.
