The seminar did one very good thing that I attended here in Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Dhaka, Bangladesh and that was by informing us with the exam styles conducted in Russia.

In the universities of Russia, ORAL exams are given the most preferences. The teacher will give you three sets of questions. You have to chose any one of the sets and take it home. The teacher will give you a certain period of time to study for e.g. 2 weeks. After two weeks, you come in the class and the teacher asks you the questions. You have to answer them orally. Here the best idea is that you can use your own words. The better you express yourself, the better is you teacher pleased with you. If you have been able to complete your studies within 1 week instead of 2, for, e.g., then no problem, after one week you can go and ask the teacher to take your test. Actually there in Russia, oral importance is given so that they can evaluate how much you have understood. Yes, written exams are also likely to be conducted side by side. But I am not sure about the current event or about private universities. Moreover, these people who have given lectures said that this was what used to happen in their times and is likely that Russian education has not changed since much then. I can guess from what your seniors said, that probably the teachers will also ask you small oral questions everyday in order to test whether you study after class or not.

hi.i just wantd to say that the oral examz are gud but the thing is the pre pared paper is nt all... u gt extra qz on wat u understand and some teachers may ask difficult qustions and some might just ask simple ones.. so bascially its not fair to the others... n from some teachers u dun learn anything at all.and one more thing is that during the final examz is totally oral as well but u have to answer to another teacher and the thing with this teachers are they only want to hear what they teach the pefect words and stuff. but WHAT THE HELL ... i dun understnd and so many students have problem with this too.

I am sorry also at the same time to hear your troubles. Anywayz good luck. Actually, here up in my country we the students are used to these sorts of problems where techers don't teach properly. Some are very good and some awful. But overall, we are made worked harder everythime to get good grades and so we have had enough of experience to bear all the responsibilities on us whether the results good or bad. But I hope that the teachers won't be probably asking one for memorized paragraghs straight from the book!
In which university you are presently and in which year? Can you tell me what textbooks is being followed for the 1st year curriculum in embryology, histology, chemistry and anatomy? It would be really helpful to have your help.

Yep, I do remember that now and then the teachers will actually be putting us in traps by bombing all the sort of peculiar questions; is he/she isn’t pleased with you.

Oral questions in tests are IN THEORY a good idea, as they help the student to clear out points that the examiner may have misunderstood if it had been a written exam.
However the REALITY of things is totally different... especially in Russian med schools.
I have never heard myself of some questions to prepare at home.. you are given a topic.. let's say GI physiology to prepare and the following week you ll have a quiz or test ..or final exam.
you ll draw from a box a piece of paper with questions on it.. you ll be given 15 or so minutes to prepare for it..
then you ll sit in front of the examiner and start answering the questions.
Now.. that is where it all starts to get interesting..
if the prof is a FAIR one.. he ll listen to you.. and if you are wrong he may ask you to clarify.. and he ll ALWAYS ask an extra question.. that extra question is for you to get a 5 (A) or a 3 (passing grade).
if you want to get a 5 and see that you are not answering the questions adequately.. simply do not answer anything!!! the prof will tell you to prepare again and come again.. you ll have an extra week to prepare..

scenario 2: your examiner is money hungry perverted being...
no matter how well you may think that you are answering the question.. he/she will trap you in a subject that you did not know.. he/she ll claim that she taught that ..but you know good and well that it was not taught and can not be found anywhere in the litterature.. especially if you are reading British/American books.. because they ll ask you some russian classification of some weird disease...

so no matter how good you think you know your stuff.. you wont pass.. unless you please them in some way..
at the MMA the pharma. department is corrupted to the bone.. they select a couple people from class every year and will always make sure to make money from them..and let the others pass nicely..
avoid YENIKIVA if you are at MMA.
