Housing in Dominica

George Nathan's apartments are very very nice. He's got these thick doors with bolts, A/C, cable TV, and all the little conveniences we all come to take for granted in the good ol' USA, all at reasonable rent. The only downside is that it's too far away. If you've got a bike and don't mind sweating a little coming to class, I think his aparments will suit you nicely.

how much are george nanthans apartments? and if it is a ten minute walk could i just take a cab everyday or a car service.

Blanca heights is an interesting place. It's close to school, but at the top of a STEEP hill. Some people don't mind the bit of exercise, and are rewarded with an absolutely spectacular view from their places. Total walking time, 5 mins. Recently renovated too.

Yep, you can take a taxi every morning for $1EC or so. But the University is really your hub while you are here and its best to be closer so you can come and go as you please.

This is why we say to get here early so you can have your choice of apartments. If you just can't set the time aside to get here early, then just go with what the housing office suggests and move after a semester (if you want). You are committed to one place for one semester.

Medic105- I usually recommend coming here 2 weeks before the first day of classes. However, I've seen several of your classmates here already looking at apartments!

Brandon653-Last summer, George was quoting $600-700 for singles and $350-400 for doubles. Don't quote me on these prices as they may have changed. Rents are in US currency and they include water, gas, and cable tv. I think you'll have to pay for phone service and electricity.

do you guys know about Vallina Hill it's by Bannana trail (7-8 min) walk from campus and it's $ 400/mon is that a good price?

I've never heard of that place. $400 for a single is a great price, but if you find a place that close for that price, its usually a dive. Not always, but usually. Plan on spending at least $500 for a good single - usually more. Now, if its a doube or triple, that price if fine.

Is it BY the Banana Trail or ON the Banana Trail?

RUMed -- You've already seen May students looking around for apartments??? Is there a lot of them? My friend and I are going there on May 1, and we actually thought that was early enough. What are our chances of getting a good double that is close to school one week before class?
