    Free chest X-ray?

As you all know, we need a chest x-ray.
Since I have no medical reason to have a film done, my insurance will not cover it. Anybody know where I can get a free/cheap X-ray in the NYC/NJ area?
While at it, hook a brother up with some free Hep A vaccine

admit yourself to the emergency room, claiming you have had a bad cough for several weeks, and demand a chest xray.

requiring a chest xray for no reason is ridiculous, unnecessary cost and radiation to a person.....im assuming the reasoning would be to look for active TB but why not just require a PPD and follow the basic procedure of a chest xray if the result is positive?

As unnecessary as it might be, a ppd and xray is an immigration requirement. Plus who doesn't want a healthy dose of radiation every now and then. Thank god i got mine for free.

If you ever make it to clinicals, you will find that these are the patients you'll hate the most. I'm talking about those that have no true medical problems but know how to work the system to take advantage of it while depriving others patients that are out in the waiting room that are truely sick. Shame on you.

If you are requiring a chest xray for clinicals, usually the hospital pays for it...have you checked. Hep A vaccines are available for free through our local public health departments in our community...might want to check yours.

I hate the fact that people do that. It's a terrible waste of resources.
Health care in this country is just disgusting.

I was hoping more for a free clinic or something along those lines.
The X-ray is a total waste

I've worked with radiation for the past 5 years, really don't need anymore

The Hep A is another pain. I called the county health dep. and they don't even carry it. I need to have my doctor order it. Just to add to the expense

I got my hep a and b at the county health dep near me and was cheaper than most other places....my x-ray was free because my brother was setting up his new practice and some imaging centers were wooing him so he sent me to them.
