Int'l Med School Transfers

Does 'zedpol' or anyone else here know if transfer students are accepted from international schools other than the caribbean? I'm currently a student in Costa Rica (UCIMED - Autonomous School of Medical Sciences of Central America), and the only classes I have left are farmacology and internal medicine, before I start my specific rotations (surgery, peds, gyno, etc). I am guessing I would have to take my USMLE and try applying to transfer? Are two years and the USMLE the only requirement or do I have to complete farmacology and internal medicine also? Does anyone know of others who have done what I would like to do, successfully? And which schools are nicer about accepting int'l students, other than the 5/6 listed on zedpol's post? thanks for any info

Advice Needed

hello i just have a question and need all of ur advice on something. AUA is having a terrible loan situation. The loan company they have are requiring co-signer and over that many people are getting rejected. I am considering to transferring to ROSS so I can continue and apply for the federal loans. I wanted to know what ur opinion was on that? Is it fair at ROSS? I heard bad things and many ppl i know transferred from ROSS to AUA. Strange I might it make it the other way around lol Will I able to get though? Do you recommend anything else? Do the federal loans require cosigners? Thank you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Federal loans do not require a cosigner (except for the grad plus loan which may be based on credit...not 100% sure about that one). Th problem with transferring to Ross, you will have to find out if they will accept transfer credits from AUA. I know Saba won't. It has to do with the fact that AUA isn't approved in all 50 states. So make sure you contact Ross and ask!

Thx

Thank you, I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. But just out of curiosity, does anybody regret attending ROSS? Its just a scary thought to see so many transfers out of Ross. Is the passing made over difficult to cut down class size?

Only those who fail out of Ross transfer out...it is a ONE WAY street. You cannot expect to transfer into Ross. Ross takes transfers into clinicals after successful completion of Step 1 and only from certain schools (including LCME schools).

Spots don't usually open until May or June. But you need to apply ASAP to schools that anticipate spots opening up. Best way from what I've heard has been to call up the schools and ask.

Is it true that transferring from a Caribbean school to another Caribbean looks bad, even if you have a 4.0?

Also, has anyone ever transferred from Ross to AUC? Is it comparatively easy to do? What kind of problems would you experience...?
