I was from a state where it didn't help me. There are some schools that only accept transfers from in-state residents. If you come from one of those you are lucky.

My friend was able to transfer back to the University of Wisconsin. He has to repeat his 3rd year. He has a pretty high Step 1 score (245) and wants to get into radiology. He didn't mind having to repeat a whole year though. I am happy for him. It depends what on you want to do. For me, my step 1 is above 200 and step 2 is above the US average. I was able to pre-match with the hospital of my choice.

Has anyone transferred to US medical Schools either in Basic Sciences or Clinicals ?

Has anyone heard of anyone transferring to a US based Med School from a Caribbean Med School before? Are there any restrictions?

Yes and No.

If you are Canadian then forget about it (generally speaking) because many people use their home state as their ticket to a transfer.

Search the topic. There are tonnes of threads about this.

Chances of transferring from Ross to a US medical school are very very slim. When you come to Ross you better be more worried about doing well in your classes and how you are going to study, not about transferring to a US medical school.

^----which is directly corellated to your chances of transferring/step 1 scores. You will kill two birds with one stone if you do the above.

Congrats to all of you!! I'm currently in the process of applying to medical schools both US and Carribean (leaning towards the latter). My Undergard scores are not so hot, the first two years were really tough, but I kicked a** the last two and have decent MCAT scores 28. I really want to stay in the US but recently have succumbed to the fact that I maybe be going international...but a question I have is it better to wait and try to do a DO school or go ahead with a carribean school, either SGU or ROSS? I know once I'm in Medschool I'll be amazing and standout....I just need to get there. Its good knowing that transfers are possible, if even rare, gives me hope!

Please let me know your thoughts......esp on what's better...MD from a foreign med school or DO?
