Thread: just got acceptance package for May class, and i am freaking

Ok, i just got the acceptance package finally, i was actually admitted a while back but Ross is a bit disorganized in getting stuff in a timely fashion to me, please someone reassure me and tell me Ross isnt always this disorganized, i mean they lost my transcripts 2 times, they sent my acceptance package way late, then i had to call them a billion times to get my financial aid information.

But before i start this message please someone be unbiased and tell me is this how Ross always is, i mean are they going to be disorganized when it comes to handling my letters of recommendations for residency, setting up my clinicals, etc... etc... i am kind of nervous, especially cause i heard this happened to plenty of other applicants before me and my friend is a 3rd year ross student at jackson hospital in chicago and he told me that he almost missed his clinical cause ross did the same to him even doing his clinicals with the disorganization and all.

But anyhow, that being said, someone help with what i should do, what do i do first other then send my deposit, how long does it take to do everything like visa, books, fin aid, private loan time line, also please someone tell me which private loan is better and why , this is key, i dont know which private loan to go with, please someone help me with that. Also any other further info that can calm me down and reassure me or other tips are full appreciated, thanks all!!!!

Aside from paying your $700 deposit, you need to:

1. File a FAFSA online. You'll get your SAR the next day, but it will take Ross maybe 2 weeks to process it and send you an award letter and loan application forms. After you mail in your required documents and loan applications, it will then take 2-3 weeks before you hear from the loan center if your alternative loan is approved.

2. If you don't have a passport, apply for one. You will need a copy of it for your visa application. It takes 4-5 weeks to get it, but you can pay extra and have it rushed in just a few days.

2. Buy your airline ticket. It takes about 10 days for them to mail you the ticket, and you need a copy of it for your visa application.

3. Get a physical exam and request a police clearance. If your PPD test is positive, you will need a chest x-ray and getting the report takes time (up to 1 week). Lab results also take up to 1 week. The police clearance will take 5 days. So if you request a police clearance and get your physical exam on the same day, all these three things should come in around the same time.

4. When you get your airline ticket, medical certificate, police clearance, and passport, file your visa application.

5. If you're planning to order books and supplies from BIG, you need to do so by April 18. If not, I suggest you email Angela at the Island Thrift store (islandthrift@hotmail.com) and reserve a used microscope and/or used books.

Unbiased... Hmmmmm: Sorry, 4 years of Ross University and I have become biased. However, I am graduating in June, AND I have matched, so I guess I can afford to give the truth: It is hit or miss with the Ross administration: Examples-

1) Sometimes they will call you right back when you leave a phone message
1a) Sometimes you have to call 5-6 times to get somebody at their desk because they NEVER call you back

2) Sometimes an email will be responded to promptly,
2b) Other tims you get a reply mid-next season

3) Ross frequently will send you back the postcard for certified mail you sent them
3b) Ross frequently "never receives" the items you send them - Like the mail suddenly vanishes at their door.
3c) ALWAYS SEND MAIL TO ROSS REQUIRING A SIGNATURE!

4) Ross will frequently tell you they sent the clinical forms to your clinical site
4b) Your sites will frequenty tell you they never received any paperwork.

This is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Get use to it, it doesn't get any better until you graduate.
