damn
can someone ever post negative thoughts about a school without him/her getting personal attacks. He hates Ross waaah! who cares. i dont like ross either but i have to still respect the fact that they make doctors even if their methods are not morally acceptable. If anything in his 'top ten' is wrong, correct him. Like the grammer issue...remember this place is informal, English wasnt the first language for alot of people, doctors go through spell check, editors, etc. before anything is published it doesnt come out perfect...think about all the shorthand for writing scripts, it just makes things easier. i agree that anyone with high grades should put US #1 but alot here dont

Understand your comment in reverse for a second...MitchDC and Mr. Wagner both post positive thoughts and people are in here personally attack them...take the prime example of "RossLoss."
[b]I'm not sure I attacked anybody. That certainly wasn't my intent. I did question the credibility of both of them. I believe this is fair game considering neither one will give a truly objective view. I may have been harsh, but my concerns are justified. Of course, my brother can do the research on his own. My hope is he will come to his senses. I have no reason to come to THIS forum to feel good about my acceptance at a US school. That is a counterintuitive premise. I already stated my purpose for being here - i will question EVERYTHING. I'd hate to see a strong US candidate be influenced by the Ross cheerleaders and make the wrong choice instead of simply waiting out a round or two. Play the game like poker: build your hand then run for the pot. Anyone with a 3.5+/30+ has a decent hand. Now, go study. |

Been reading Ross forums for a couple years now. I don't ever remember one of the Ross "cheerleaders" advocating Ross over any US med school. They've always promoted Ross as a viable alternative/option if acceptance to a US school is not possible.
I hope your brother applies to many US med schools and is accepted. If after a year or two he is still trying then Ross may be an option. If Ross is his option then by all means support his efforts. I recently read somewhere that if California med schools doubled their student capacity they would still be turning away a large percentage of qualified in-state applicants. Best wishes for you and your brother's success. |

Here is my preppy advise for you.

And from what you wrote, it is obvious that you have spent quite a long time reading messages on here. Whether they are true or not, it showed your patience. That is a good sign. Now onto the remark about Ross is here to make money, well, Ross started it for the purpose of making more money. I don't see there is anything wrong about it. you are living in the most capitalist country in the world. Even the government is making money out from you. Yea, if one have good grades, mcats, etc, of course, one should apply to those med. schools in the States. If you want your brother to go to a med. school in the country, go talk to him in person. There is no need to write your thoughts on here for the whole world to read. Do you have a problem of communicating with your own brother? Then it doesn't matter what scores you got, you obviously need some counseling in order to improve your personal relationship with him. it would be utter pity if you can't talk to him directly. |

I'm almost finished!
I'm writing one more post and then I'm done with this issue. RossLoss wrote

They ought to assume that I am presenting the University in the best possible light and should use the current students on this forum to double check what I say. If I am touting the glories of the new auditorium, they should be reading the students' postings to see if it matches my information. That is a little harder to do wwhen it comes to answers that require data. Students may only have anecdotal evidence where I may have access to more empirical data. The readers of this forum should then listen to what the first semester students are posting. After I have given my "used car salesman" pitch, are the new students saying that things are as I said they would be or are they complaining that I mislead them? In the end, the readers can decide if my information is candid or slanted. Now having written this, I wonder why I even did it. If you are trustworthy enough to make decisions about your profession and investing thousands of dollars, you are trustworthy enough to figure out whether I can be trusted....so just ignore everything I said. You already know it!
