Dean Wagner: Sept - Dec. Exam Schedule
Dean Wagner,
I received the exam schedule for the upcoming semester and I see that both 3rd and 4th semester are scheduled to take their final exams at 1:00pm on Monday. I will be a 3rd semester in Sept. I thought that we had an alternating final exam schedule each semester. The reason I am concerned is that I have already booked a flight home in Dec. to leave Mon. afternoon. I don't want to change the flight if there has been a mistake on the schedule - the exam schedules have changed before. Thanks!

I suggest that you e-mail Dean Houghton (Academic Admin and Student Affairs). She'll know for sure, but I'm pretty sure its correct. While it often does alternate, there is no policy in place that assures an alternating schedule.

Mitch is correct.
The schedule is correct as it now stands. There is no policy that states that exams will be on the same days or times from one semester. Before you buy tickets for the end of semester, please notice the statement at the bottom that says it is subject to change. While te current published schedule is correct, it may very well change before the end of the semester.

I th9nk it is pretty safe to say that exams (other than the comprehensive shelf for 4th semester students) will be finished by Wednesday, December 17th. It would be theoretically possible to have an exam that day but from a practical standpoint, it's not likely.
On Wednesday course directors have to look at the results of the final exams and complete the Hofstee method prior to the Course Directors Meeting on Thursday. It would be almost impossible to have an exam on Wednesday and still get that work done. So I think you are safe scheduling your flight on Wednesday if you are in the first three semesters.
