this would def not be possible after they just dumped millions into ross to fix it up. Who in there right mind would buy all that land -
Wait, Maybe i could, I would call it - "The international Science and health center of New York" - That would attract some customers, I mean students.

Doesn't need to be Ross, there are several off-shore schools and entrepreneurs, and interested candidates in such a school, if it's viable. From the discussion, I have not seen any real arguments against it.

Americn and Canadian medical associations would fight tooth and nail against this type of domestic competition. It will not happen until after suffering 10-15 years will a severe doctor shortage.

The suffering has not even begun.

I would say that rural areas are suffering but the majority are just dealing with delays.

There's no real advantage to opening a school in America (well other than the sheer geography). The LCME *does not* by any means accredit for-profit medical schools - this is in their charter. You'd still be considered an FMG on paper.

yep. and geography is a terrible reason to pick a med school!

if Ross could do it, it would be nice, because they are a well established school. and, dominica isn't the nicest of places, from what i hear. but, for all intents and purposes, you would be an IMG. if some new carib school gets a charter and opens on indian land, it would still be a poor choice to attend.

heck, if you want a bad school in a good country, just go to st chris!

I don't believe this to be true. See their FAQ.

Does the LCME rank medical schools according to quality?
Medical schools are not ranked. The LCME evaluates educational programs according to standards for organization, function, and performance, but does not attempt to stratify institutions according to their characteristics. Medical schools differ greatly: whether they are private or state-supported, free-standing, or part of a parent university. They differ in their dependence on state appropriations, tuition, and income from clinical services and research; their relative emphasis on teaching, research, and medical practice; the size of their faculties and enrollments; the scope of their research and production of future scientists and teachers; and their emphasis on primary care and the training of future community physicians. While the quality of education is partly determined by the organization of programs and adequacy of resources, it also depends on the dedication of the faculty to teaching and to creating an environment conducive to learning. These and other important attributes may be obscured by efforts to rank schools by such variables as their size and the reputation of the faculty, level of research funding, or clinical facilities.
